Caroline Rhea (born April 13, 1964) is a Canadian stand-up comedian and actress best known for her role as Hilda Spellman on ABC's Sabrina the Teenage Witch. She has appeared on many comedy specials, including three one-hour stand-up specials for HBO, Showtime, and Bravo.

Early life
Rhea was born and raised in Westmount, Quebec, Canada, where Margery and David Rhea, an obstetrician and gynecologist, respectively, were born and raised. Cynthia and Celia are her two sisters. She attended The Study, an all-girls private school in Westmount, Quebec; Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia; and the University of Arizona.
Personal life
Rhea and her late husband, comedian Costaki Economopoulos, have a daughter, Ava, who was born in October 2008.
A week before, Rhea's parents were diagnosed with cancer. Margery, her mother, was diagnosed with breast cancer and David, her father, was diagnosed with lung cancer. David, an OB/GYN, died ten months later; Margery lived another six years.
Career
In 1986, Rhea moved to New York to pursue a career as a comedian and actress. She first appeared at venues such as Catch a Rising Star and The Comic Strip, where she performed with comedians including Chris Rock, Louis C.K., Dave Attell, Marc Maron, and Jim Gaffigan. On MTV's Half-Hour Comedy Hour, Comic Strip Live, and Caroline's Comedy Hour, she made her first film stand-up appearances.
One Night Stand, a one-hour special on HBO, was given to Rhea. She continued this up with Rhea's Anatomy, Bravo's one-hour special, and Showtime's Give Me My Remote.
Caroline left New York as a comedian to pursue an acting career in Hollywood, debuting on NBC's television show Pride & Joy, where she co-starred with Jeremy Piven.
