Caroline Munro (born 16 January 1949) is an English actress and model best known for her appearances in horror, science fiction, and action films from the 1970s and 1980s.
Career
Munro's career began in 1966 when her mother and a photographer friend took some headshots of her in The Evening News' "Face of the Year" competition.
At the age of 17, I began modeling for Vogue magazine. She went to London to pursue modeling and became a model for fashion and TV advertisements while there. She appeared in films including Casino Royale (1967) and Where's Jack? (1969) One of her photo ads led to a screen test and a one-year contract with Paramount, where she appeared as Richard Widmark's daughter in the comedy western A Talent for Loving (also 1969). Victoria Regina Phibes, the wife of the title character (played by Vincent Price) in The Abominable Dr Phibes (1971) and its sequel, Dr. Phibes Rises Again (1972), were used in Munro.
Sir James Carreras, Hammer Films' chairman, was spotted Munro on a Lamb's Navy Rum poster/billboard. James Liggett, his assistant, was ordered by him to locate and screen test her. She was immediately committed to a one-year deal. Hammer's first film was a turning point in her career. It was during the production of Dracula AD 1972 (1972) that she decided she was a full fledged actress from this film onward. Captain Kronos – Vampire Hunter (1974) Munro appeared in Vampire Hunter (1974). Carla, the barefoot gypsy girl, was directed by Brian Clemens. Clemens describes his role as a fiery Raquel Welch-type redhead in Paramount Pictures' DVD commentary.
Munro is the only actor to have signed a long-term contract with Hammer Films. She turned down leading female roles in Hammer's Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde (1971), Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (1974), and the unmade Vaindra because they needed nudity. She has also served in Force 10 from Navarone (1978) and The World Is Full of Married Men (1979) as they did not require nudity.
Brian Clemens was assisting her in the role of Margiana, the slave girl in The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1973).
Munro has served as a trustee for the Ray and Diana Harryhausen Foundation.

Munro's career flourished in the 1980s, and she appeared in many slasher and Eurotrash films. Maniac (1980), William Lustig's first film shot on American soil, was shot on film. This was quickly followed by the "multi-award winning shot during the Cannes Film Festival" surprise film The Last Horror Film (1982) (directed by David Winters), in which she was reunited with her Maniac (and Starcrash) co-star Joe Spinell, who was co-starred with her Maniac (and Starcrash) co-star Joe Spinell. She appeared in the film Don't Open Till Christmas (1984), Slaughter High (1986), Paul Naschy's Howl of the Devil (1986), and Jess Franco's Faceless (1988), which was followed in a slew of characters. For Demons 6: De Prosperis, she rejoined Starcrash director Luigi Cozzi (aka Il gatto nero, 1989).
Munro was a hostess on the Yorkshire Television game show 3-2-1 between 1984 and 1987. Munro was a hit pin-up girl at the time, but she refused to reveal nude. She appeared in music videos for Adam Ant's "Good Two Shoes" (1982) and Meat Loaf's "If You Really Want To" (1983).
