Early life
Thatcher was born in Hammersmith, London, on August 15, 1953. By C-section, she and her twin brother, Mark, were born six weeks early. "My God, they look like rabbits," Denis Thatcher's husband responded to their children for the first time by saying, "They look like rabbits." They should be returned. In 1958, Thatcher's mother was selected for the constituency of Finchley in north London and elected as a Member of Parliament.
Thatcher was sent to Queenswood School, a girls'boarding school near Hatfield, Hertfordshire, before moving to St Paul's Girls' School in 1960. She earned a law degree from University College London before heading to Australia in 1977 to start a journalism career. Although she was there, her mother was elected prime minister. "You need a lot of shock absorbers and a sense of humour to be the prime minister's child," Thatcher later said.
Personal life
Thatcher had a friendship with Jonathan Aitken, which ended in 1979. Aitken's split with Thatcher is reported to have been the catalyst for his decision against a ministerial career; thatcher's mother, who was at the time, told cabinet colleagues that she would not give a job to a man "who had made Carol cry."

Journalism career
Thatcher began her work as a journalist in Australia, reporting on the Sydney Morning Herald from 1977 to 1979. She began as a television reporter at Channel Seven, also in Sydney, and later as a reporter on its news morning show, 11AM. On her return to the United Kingdom, she served as a host for LBC, BBC Radio 4, TV-am, and a travel blogger for The Daily Telegraph. Many newspapers are reluctant to publish work with her byline due to her mother's high-profile political position.
Diary of an Election (with Margaret Thatcher on the campaign trail) was her first book, and it was published in 1983. Lloyd on Lloyd, her second book, which was a joint effort with tennis player Chris Evert Lloyd, was published three years ago. It was Thatcher's first best-seller.
