Carlos Santana Life

Carlos Santana (born July 20, 1947) is a Mexican and American guitarist who rose to fame in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band Santana, which pioneered a blend of rock and roll and Latin American jazz.

Its sound featured his melodic, blues-based lines set against Latin and African rhythms, as well as African and African rhythms, which were based on percussion instruments such as timbales and congas not normally heard in rock.

Santana has continued to practice in these styles for the next decade.

In the late 1990s, he saw a revival of fame and critical acclaim.

Santana debuted at number 20 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists in 2015.

He has received ten Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards, and he was inducted with Santana into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

Personal life

Santana was born as a naturalized US citizen in 1965.

Santana stopped smoking after discovering Chinmoy and Yogandanda in 1972. Santana launched Mirayo, a cannabis-infused brand, in 2020, honoring "the plant's spiritual and ancient Latin roots."

He was married to Deborah King, the daughter of blues musician Saunders King from 1973 to 2007. They have three children, Salvador, Stella, and Angelica, as well as the Milagro (Miracle) Foundation, a non-profit group that provides financial assistance for educational, medical, and other needs. After 34 years of marriage, King declared divorce in 2007, citing irreconcilable inconsistencies. Santana introduced touring drummer Cindy Blackman on stage during a concert at Tinley Park, Illinois, on July 9, 2010. The two were married in December 2010 and now live in Las Vegas.

In December 2021, Santana underwent heart surgery. On stage at a concert at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Michigan on July 5, 2022, he suffered an undisclosed medical emergency, but he was able to regain consciousness while being assisted off the stage. Later that day, a publicist's statement revealed that he died from heat and dehydration, but that he was being monitored at the local hospital and that he would recover shortly. The day before his performance was postponed, his show was cancelled. Santana's management firm declared on July 8, 2022, that he will postpone his next six concerts due to a "abundance of caution for the artist's wellbeing."
