Later that day, a publicist's statement revealed that he died from heat and dehydration, but that he was being monitored at the local hospital and that he would recover shortly. The day before his performance was postponed, his show was cancelled. Santana's management firm declared on July 8, 2022, that he will postpone his next six concerts due to a "abundance of caution for the artist's wellbeing."
