In 1998, he joined Spanish actress/singer Najwa Nimri to form Najwajean, the indie pop group, who also released their first album, titled No Blood, in the same year. Original soundtracks for Asfalto and Guerreros, which were both directed by Daniel Calparso, were followed by original soundtracks. Meanwhile, he began a life as a solo artist, debuting his debut album, Planet Jean, in 2000. He returned to the earth two years later, with the internationally recognized single "Mr. Dabada" and also a compilation album as part of Najwajean's Selection. Following the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Jean released Ay Hait, a charity effort in which he brought together some of the country's best young and South American artists of the moment, in order to raise funds for the earthquake victims. Following the success of such a pioneering concept, Carlos Jean's career was given a boost with the release of his compilation album Introducing Carlos Jean in May 2011. It contained some of the Plan B's songs as well as hits from his previous three albums. "Lead the Way" and "Gimme the Base (DJ) were two top-five singles, with "Lead the Way" and "Gimme the Base (DJ).

During his time on the program, he held live castings that culminated in the formation of boy band Why Five and girl band Check Baby Check; however, both performances were short-lived.
