Carlo Pinsoglio Career

Club career

Pinsoglio began his career with Italian giants Juventus, and after progressing to the youth ranks at the club, he was promoted to the Primavera youth squad in 2007. Pinsoglio had been the starting goalkeeper from 2008 to his youth team's graduation in the 2009–10 season. Pinsoglio was sent out on loan to Lega Pro Prima Divisione's F.C. following his promotion to the Juventus first team. Esperia Viareggio, where he became the club's starting goalkeeper, became the club's starting goalkeeper. Giorgio Merlano, a fellow Juventus product, served as his back-up, coincidenly. Pinsoglio made 25 appearances for the club in his first professional season, and he returned to Turin on June 30. Pinsoglio was again sent on loan after returning to Juventus. He and Ciro Immobile joined Pescara in July 2011. He made his debut as the first choice goalkeeper in the home match, losing 2–0 against Crotone on September 10, 2011. He spent the bulk of his 2011-12 season as a back-up to veteran Luca Anania, who made only 5 league appearances. Pinsoglio was recalled by Juventus in January 2012, but Vicenza Calcio sold the player in a co-ownership contract.

Pinsoglio completed his switch to Vicenza in January 2012 as part of Fausto Rossi's signing, Pinsoglio's 50% registration rights were worth €1.5 million and Rossi for €1.7 million. Pinsoglio was mainly used as a back-up goalkeeper. He was the club's second choice, playing behind Alberto Frison and ahead of veteran Paolo Acerbis. He made only 3 appearances in his first 5-moths with the club, which culminated in his relegation from Serie B to the Lega Pro Prima Divisione following a play-out loss on aggregate to Empoli F.C. However, the club was reinstated in Serie B thanks to the enforced relegation of Lecce in 2011 due to their involvement in the 2011 Italian football betting fiasco. Following the transfer of Frison to Calcio Catania, he started the 2012-13 Serie B season as the club's first choice goalkeeper. Pinsoglio made 20 appearances in league before losing his spot to January 2013 arrival Nicolas Bremec. Vicenza was recalled at the end of the season and will therefore compete in the 2013–14 Lega Pro Prima Divisione.

With the registration rights of Castiglia and Pinsoglio remaining with the Lega Pro team, the joint venture between Vicenza and Juventus of Niko Bianconi, Luca Castiglia and Pinsoglio was renewed on June 20th.

Pinsoglio was transferred from Vicenza to Modena, a Serie B side, on July 23, 2013 in exchange for Angelo Di Stasio's full registration rights.

Juventus reported on June 20th that they had won complete control of Pinsoglio's contract for €700,000, with Bianconi returning to Vicenza for €600,000, Pinsoglio's 3-year deal.

Pinsoglio returned to Modena on a second season-long loan agreement ahead of the 2014–15 Serie B season.

Pinsoglio was drafted by A.S. Livorno Calcio on August 3, 2015, replacing Luca Mazzoni. Pinsoglio was fired by Mazzoni after he gave up a needed penalty and was handed a red card, and the two-goal comeback of Virtus Lanciano was stumbling a rather straightforward cross at the feet on an opposing striker.

Pinsoglio and Pol Garcia were loaned to United States Latina Calcio from Juventus in July 2016.

Pinsoglio made his Serie A and Juventus debut on May 19, 2018, defeating Hellas Verona's starting goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon in the 64th minute; Pinsoglio was defeated by Alessio Cerci in the 76th minute. After the match, the club celebrated winning the league championship and a domestic double.

Pinsoglio signed a two-year contract extension with Juventus on September 27, which will keep him at the club until June 2020.

He appeared as a replacement for Wojciech Szczczny in Juventus's 3–1 loss to Roma in Serie A, with his club already confirmed as league champions on August 1st.

Pinsoglio resigned with Juventus in June 2021, extending him at the club until 2023. It has been said that a significant part of his revival was due to his positive presence in the dressing room.

International career

Pinsoglio has competed for Italy at the U20 level. He made his Italy U21 squad debut against England in Empoli on February 8th. He played for the U21 team on eight occasions (three in the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship qualification), but was not called up by new coach Devis Mangia until the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship.
