Capital Steez Life

Everald "Jamal" Dewar Jr. (July 7, 1993 – December 24, 2012), better known by his stage name Capital Steez (stylized as Capital STEEZ), was an American rapper from Brooklyn, New York.

Pro Era was founded in Brooklyn, along with longtime friend and record producer Powers Pleasant.

Capital Steez was also the developer of the Beast Coast movement, which includes three main groups based in Flatbush: Pro Era, Flatbush Zombies, and The Underachievers. Joey Bada$$ and Capital Steez recorded "Survival Tactics" on YouTube on February 23, 2012; Steez's closing verse was listed on the list of "25 Of The Best Closing Lines In Rap" by XXL Magazine.

On April 7, 2012, Capital Steez released AmeriKKKan Korruption, his first solo mixtape, on 14 tracks. Capital Steez died by suicide on December 24, 2012.

Early life

Everald Dewar Jr. was born in New York City to Jamaican parents. When he was three years old, his father died. In the fourth grade, Dewar attended Public School 222 Elementary School in Brooklyn, New York, where he formed his first rap band with close friend Jakk the Rhymer (real name Jahkari Jack).

Edward R. Murrow High School's dewar was recalled by his classmates as a "smiling kid with a short afro and skinny jeans" who made friends quickly, skated, smoked cannabis often, and was a sneakerhead.

Dewar, who was raised as a Christian, rejected those ideals during high school and instead embraced Rastafari, which would later become a central part of his life. Dewar's views changed once more as he began to watch Spirit Science, a popular YouTube series about metaphysical and spiritual theories.

Personal life

Steez's spiritual journey included elements of Egyptian mysticism, numerology, astral projection, and the Indian chakra system. He regarded himself as one of the Indigo children and was reportedly mistaken for a being of a higher dimension. Steez was infatuated by the number 47 and what it meant spiritually. The number 47 was considered the "right picture of balance in the world," demonstrating the difference between the heart and the brain (the fourth and seventh chakra, respectively), according to the author.

Capital Steez Career

Career

Jamal Dewar began rapping in 2008, along with Jakk the Rhymer, Dewar formed The 3rd Kind. In the same year, the two bands released The Yellow Tape, their first mixtape.

Capital STEEZ and record producer Powers Pleasant, a student at Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn, New York, formed Pro Era in the spring of 2011, when a group of friends, including Joey Bada$$ and Dirty Sanchez, attended to show their appreciation.

Capital STEEZ is credited with coining the phrase "Beast Coast Movement," a term used to describe the rise in fame of East Coast hip-hop bands such as Pro Era, The Underachievers, and Flatbush Zombies. All three bands are from Brooklyn, and they often use the term Beast Coast in songs and on concert flyers.

Joey Bada$$ and Capital STEEZ added "Survival Tactics" to YouTube on February 23, 2012. Spin named him in "The 25 Best Rap Lines of 2012."

Capital STEEZ's first solo mixtape, AmeriKKKan Korruption, was released on April 7, 2012, with 14 tracks. Since its debut, the mixtape has received worldwide attention. On October 10, 2012, a "reloaded" version with seven additional tracks was released. The tape now has 21 tracks in total, as well as many of his Pro Era colleagues, including CJ Fly, Chuck Strangers, Joey Bada$, Dirty Sanchez, and Jakk the Rhymer. Madlib, MF DOOM, Free the Robots, Knxwledge, Knxwledge, J. Rawls, Tommy Mas, the Entreproducers, and Bruce Leekix appear on the mixtape, as well as fellow Pro Era members, Joey Bada$$, Kirk Knight, and Bruce Leekix.
