Bryce Brown Life

Bryce Lee Brown (born May 14, 1991) is a former American football running back.

He attended the University of Tennessee his freshman year of college, but decided to leave the football program in March 2010.

However, Volunteers coach Derek Dooley decided not to release Brown from his scholarship, which meant Brown had to pay his own way at Kansas State University in 2010 as he sat out due to NCAA transfer rules.

Brown left the Kansas State football team early in the 2011 season to enter the 2012 NFL Draft. While playing at Wichita High School East, he won the 2008 Hall Trophy for the best high school player in the United States and was ranked atop of the Rivals.com ranking of his class, the first running back to do so since Adrian Peterson in 2004.

In 2008, he was also dubbed the best high school running back prospect of the last five years.

In 2008, Rivals.com analyst Barry Every compared Brown to NFL running back Ronnie Brown.

Personal life

Bryce married his wife Morgan Brown on March 8, 2013. The couple has two sons together, Beckham and Leighton Brown. His brother Arthur Brown, Jr, also played in the NFL and his uncle Lawrence Pete is a former Detroit Lions player.

His older brother Arthur is a former five-star linebacker recruit who played at Kansas State University and played for the Baltimore Ravens from 2013-2016. According to Jeremy Crabtree of Rivals.com, the Browns were the first brothers ever to be both ranked five-star recruits.

Bryce Brown Career

High school career

He was voted first-team All-City league pick as a freshman and played for 1,472 yards and 12 touchdowns. He ended his sophomore season with a much more impressive sophomore campaign, rushing for 2,039 yards and 26 TDs. Brown, a consensus First-team All-State pick, as well as EA Sports National Sophomore of the Year, was a runner. More than 50 scholarship applications have been received by the author.

Brown rushed for 1,825 yards on 207 attempts (8.8 avg) and 23 touchdowns in his junior season, earning him All-City and All-State recognition. In his Junior year, he wore #5 on his first appearance. He was also identified as a member of the Kansas "Fab 11" and was the lone junior named as a USA Today Prep All-American. Brown, according to CSTV's Tom Lemming, was better than any of the senior running backs in the 2008 class (which included Darrell Scott, Ryan Williams, and Cyrus Gray). Brown was considered the best running back prospect from Kansas after Barry Sanders.

Arthur Brown committed to the University of Miami in December 2007, prompting rumors that Bryce will have completed his high school in Coral Gables, Florida, since his mother told USA Today that Bryce "is wishing to go to high school wherever Arthur decides to attend college." Bryce Brown, meanwhile, has decided to remain in Wichita for his senior season.

Brown was chosen to the 2009 United States Army All-American Bowl in October 2008. Brown finished the 2008 season with a Wichita City League regular-season record 1,873 yards passing, adding to his 7,209 total yards, which was also a City League record. For the second time, he was selected to the USA Today All-USA First Team.

Brian Butler, who identified himself as Brown's trainer and handler, was in charge of his workouts, recruiting, and reporting media inquiries. Butler sold reports of Brown's recruiting via website for $9.99 a month or $59 a year, and said he wanted to take players on a tour of colleges each summer. Butler had suggested that Brown join the Canadian Football League (CFL), but Brown denied it at one point. The National Collegiate Athletic Association's amateurism certification staff launched an investigation into see if anything had been done that might jeopardize Brown's amateur status as a result of Butler's handling. Brown was eventually cleared of playing before the start of his freshman season, thanks to the NCAA's probe.

Brown followed his brother and verbally committed to the University of Miami on February 22, 2008. Brown, however, did not sign a letter of intent on National Signing Day 2009, but rather announced his decision on March 16 as five other "finalists" despite his oral commitment to Miami: LSU, Tennessee, Oregon, USC, and Kansas State. "I would tell the kid and Brian Butler to go jump in a lake if I were Randy Shannon and the Miami staff," said ESPN's Tom Luginbill. I had to imagine that deep down, Miami's coaches would be thinking, 'This is getting ridiculous.'" Brown paid official visits to Oregon and Clemson prior to his announcement and then took an impromptu tour to Tennessee on March 13.

According to the Associated Press, the University of Miami would not reissue a national letter of intention to Brown to replace the one that expired Wednesday, February 18. Brian Butler, Brown's advisor, told AP that he was unaware that scholarship applications had a deadline, but that Brown would not sign until March 16. According to Palm Beach Post's Jorge Milian UM coach Shannon, Brown reportedly told him that the University of Miami was no longer involved in his programs. Brown, on the other hand, told Wichita Eagle that Shannon still wanted him to be a hurricane. Shannon was not allowed to participate because of NCAA rules.

Brown revealed at a press conference at the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in Wichita, Kansas, on March 16, 2009, that he would attend the University of Tennessee. Brown said at the press conference, "I think this is the academy that will prepare me the best for the next level."

College career

Brown was predicted to see significant playing time during his true freshman season and spent the 2009 season in the top-two running back rotation, despite the fact that he was already in the top-two. Prior to the season, Brown's amateurism was under scrutiny by the NCAA, but he was released only a few days later.

Brown served as a back-up to senior Montario Hardesty throughout the season. Brown finished the season with 460 yards, second on the team behind Hardesty. He had three rushing touchdowns.

Brown revealed that he would leave Tennessee's 2010 spring practice on the first day of the Volunteers for USC. Brown will remain enrolled at Tennessee for the remainder of the spring semester, according to Volunteer Coach Derek Dooley, although he did not say if he would transfer. Arthur Brown moved from the University of Miami to Kansas State University a few weeks earlier, and on August 15, 2010, Brown decided to join his brother at Kansas State.

In a Yahoo! article, Brown and his brother Arthur were listed alongside him. Students, educators, and administrators, according to reports, were aware and reaping improper compensation from an ex-booster of the University of Miami, Nevin Shapiro. In a tweet, "Kansas State University has been in contact with the NCAA," the university said. "The NCAA has advised Arthur Brown and Bryce Brown that they have no questions about their ability to compete at K-State."

Brown carried the ball three times for 16 yards as a fourth-option back in a 10-7 victory over Eastern Kentucky on September 3. Brown left the Kansas State football team "at least temporarily," according to a story on September 29, 2011. He made his 2012 NFL Draft debut in January 2012.

Professional career

Brown was not invited to the 2012 NFL Combine. Dan Pompei of the Chicago Tribune rated him as the No. 1 in the Chicago Tribune. The 2012 NFL Draft features 17 running back prospects.

The Philadelphia Eagles drafted Brown in the seventh round (229th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. On May 11, 2012, he agreed to a four-year deal with the team.

Brown was the first back to play against the Carolina Panthers after being suspended due to post-concussion symptoms starting in running back LeSean McCoy on Monday Night Football, his first appearance since high school. Brown had over 100 yards and a touchdown in the first half alone, as well as a sixty-five yard touchdown run. He finished the game with 178 yards on 19 runs, 2 touchdowns, and 4 receptions for 11 yards, as well as 2 fumbles. Brown's 178 yards tied for the Eagles' rookie record. Brown rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys next week. Brown fumbled late in the fourth quarter, but Dallas player Morris Claiborne returned the fumble 50 yards for the game's deciding score.

Brown continued to play backup in the 2013 season. He finished 115 yards on nine runs, including a 65-yard touchdown in a 54-11 blowout of the Chicago Bears. The NFL average was 9.6 yards per snap (only on the field for 12 snaps), the highest level since the stat was available in 2012 (later broken by Miami's Lamar Miller in 2015).

Brown was traded to the Buffalo Bills on May 10, 2014. Brown and the Eagles' 2014 7th round pick and 2014 7th round picks were sent with the trade. The Bills were published Brown on September 15, 2015.

Brown signed with the Seattle Seahawks on October 27, 2015. He remained with the team through the remainder of the 2015 season.
