Bruce Boxleitner Life

Bruce William Boxleitner (born May 12, 1950) is an American actor and science fiction and suspense writer.

He is best known for his appearances in the television series How the West Was Won, Bring 'Em Back Alive, Scarecrow, and Mrs. King (with Kate Jackson), and Babylon 5, as John Sheridan in seasons 2–5, 1994–98). He is also known for his two roles as Alan Bradley and Tron in the 1982 Walt Disney Pictures film Tron, the 2006 Square-Enix/Disney crossover game Tron: Legacy and Tron: Uprising.

He co-starred in all of Kenny Rogers' films, including comic relief.

Early life

Boxleitner was born in Elgin, Illinois, on May 12, 1950. He attended Prospect High School in Mount Prospect, Illinois, and the Art Institute of Chicago's Goodman School of Drama (now at DePaul University).

Personal life

Boxleitner's first marriage (1977-1977) was to American actress Kathryn Holcomb, who co-starred with him on How The West Was Won as his on-screen sister Laura. Sam (born 1980) and Lee (born 1985).

Melissa Gilbert, an American actress, was Boxleitner's second marriage (1995-2011). Michael (born 1995) and her mother had one son together: Michael (born 1995). During Season 3 of Babylon 5, Gilbert also appeared as Anna Sheridan, Boxleitner's on-screen wife. Gilbert and Bruce announced on March 1, 2011, after 16 years of marriage, they had broken apart. Gilbert had requested divorce on August 25 of the same year, according to court records.

Boxleitner was elected to the Board of Governors of the National Space Society in 2003, a non-profit, educational space advocacy group founded by Dr. Wernher von Braun.

For nearly 30 years, he was friends with actress Beverly Garland. He appeared on an episode of How The West Was Won and then co-starred with her on Scarecrow & Mrs. King, but he had very few scenes with her. In 1986, Boxleitner presented Garland with the Golden Boot Award. Boxleitner stayed close to Garland following her expulsion of Scarecrow, contacting her regularly until her death on December 5, 2008. In an interview, he said, "I used to keep up with Beverly Garland until she died." She was actually named after a hotel. It was such a trip. She was a wonderful lady."

Bruce is currently married to publicist Verena King.

Boxleitner is best known for his roles in the television series How the West Was Won, Bring 'Em Back Alive, Scarecrow, and Mrs. King (with Kate Jackson and Beverly Garland), and Babylon 5 (as John Sheridan in seasons 2–5, 1994–98).

He appeared in The Gambler (as Billy Rogers, 1980, 1983 and 1987), as well as in such television films as Judith Krantz's Till We Meet Again and Danielle Steel's Zoya. In 2005, he co-starred as Captain Martin Duvall in the Young Blades. He has appeared in many films within the Babylon 5 universe, including Babylon 5: In the Beginning (TV, 1998), Babylon 5: A Call to Arms (TV, 1999), and The Lost Tales (2007).

Boxleitner has appeared on several television shows, including an appearance in 1973 as Rick Welsh, a University of Minnesota Track Star, on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, season four. Gunsmoke, Tales from the Crypt, Touched by an Angel, The Outer Limits, and She Spies were among his film appearances. In 1982, he appeared in Bare Essence with Genie Francis. In three episodes, he appeared in Heroes seasons three and four, as New York Governor Robert Malden. Devon Woodcomb's father appears on television show Chuck as the father of the Devon Woodcomb family. He appeared in such made-for-television films as The Secret, Hope Ranch, Falling in Love with the Girl Next Door, Pandemic, Sharpshooter, and Aces 'N' Eights.

In the fall of 2010, Boxleitner appeared on NCIS as a guest-star. Vice Admiral C. Clifford Chase, a high-ranking Navy official, appeared on Vice Admiral C. Clifford Chase. In the animated film Tron: Uprising, boxleitner also lends his voice to the animated version of his legendary character Tron. On June 7, 2012, the series premiered on Disney XD. Alan Bradley/Tron from Tron and Tron: Legacy also reprises the role. In the Hallmark Channel series Cedar Cove, he starred Bob Beldon, the owner of the local bed and breakfast.

After Lynda Carter's character Olivia Marsdin was outed as a Durlan by Mercy Graves and Otis Graves, Boxleitner's character unfolded on Supergirl portraying Baker, the Vice President of the United States who is later sworn in as the new president. Brent Spiner resigned due to a scheduling conflict relating to a family matter, so he took his place.

Boxleitner appeared in various films in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries series The Matchmaker Mysteries started in 2019 and was a regular performer in the series.

He has appeared in several films, including Tron (in which he appeared in the title role) and The Baltimore Bullet (1980) with James Coburn, as well as The Baltimore Bullet (1980). He reprised his role in Tron: Legacy and in the video game Tron: Evolution, as he did for Tron: Legacy and the Disney/Square Enix crossover video game Kingdom Hearts II. In the video game Spec Ops: The Line, the Boxleitner also appeared as Col. John Konrad. In the 2003 film Gods and Generals, he appeared as Confederate General James Longstreet. Colin Barrow appears in the animated science fiction horror film Dead Space: Downfall, which is based on the video game Dead Space. Kuffs, The Babe, Brilliant Snakehead Terror, Legion of the Dead, King of the Lost World, Shadows in Paradise, and Transmorphers: The Fall of Man are among his films he has worked in.

He officially confirmed that he would reprise his role as Alan Bradley/Tron in Tron 3. As "it's been too up and down for me," Boxleitner said in July 2015 that he has been done with the franchise. I would rather not continue reading than continue reading. I don't want to repeat my work anymore."

Boxleitner appeared in advertisements for Estee Lauder's "Lauder For Men" from 1986 to 1989.

Boxleitner is known as the author of two science fiction books set in a Western setting, Frontier Earth (1999) and Searcher (2001).

Boxleitner was a central part of L. Ron Hubbard's audio dramatization of The Great Secret. In the unbridged version of World War Z, he appeared as Captain Gavin Blaire.
