Harvey was married to dancer Natasha Carnegie, with whom he has a daughter.
Harvey was assaulted with a knife in a Nottingham club parking lot on December 12, 2001. Harvey was hospitalized in May 2005 after being diagnosed with clinical depression following a suspected suicide attempt. He was re-admitted to hospital in a critical state after falling under the wheels of his vehicle on May 31, 2005.
Career
Harvey's vocal style resembled R&B and young jack swing vocalists from the United States. Because of his vocals, he was able to serve as the group's frontman, or key member, which was shared with the group's founder, songwriter, guitarist, and singer Tony Mortimer.
Harvey was barred from East 17 in 1997 after making remarks in a radio interview that appeared to condone the use of the drug ecstasy, sparking a backlash in the media and a discussion of the subject being raised in the United Kingdom's Parliament. Mortimer died in East 17 months later. Harvey eventually returned to the company under the rebranded E-17 brand. Between 1998 and 1999, the group had two top 20 singles on the UK Singles Chart, with Resurrection debuting at number 50 in the United Kingdom Top 50.
Harvey co-produced the album "Reality Step Tonight" with Donell Jones, which debuted at number 26 on the UK Singles Chart in 2000.
