Brett Davern (born March 16, 1992) is an American actor best known for his role on MTV's Awkward.
Early life
In 1992, Davern was born and raised in Edmonds, Washington. At Madrona Elementary School in Edmonds, his passion for theatre and acting began. He then attended Edmonds-Woodway High School. He will attend Stagedoor Manor Theatrical Training Center in upstate New York from Sophomore to Senior summers. Davern attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City after graduating high school in 2001.
Personal life
Davern shows a passion for racing cars in his spare time. He competed in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Runoff at the Grand Prix of Long Beach in 2013. The race raises funds for Racing for Kids, a charity that supports multiple children's hospitals in southern California. After qualifying in 5th position, he came in second place in the series. After qualifying on the pole with the fastest time in 2014, he competed again and won.
Davern helps with the Wounded Warrior Project, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Stars for Smiles, and Ronald McDonald House in addition to his charitable work with Racing for Children.
He has claimed on podcasts that he is married with two children: a son and a daughter, the former born in 2017.
Career
Davern landed the lead role in his first film as William in Beautiful Ohio, starring William Hurt, Rita Wilson, and Julianna Margulies, despite living and auditioning in New York City. He has appeared on CSI: Miami, Medium, NCIS, In Plain Sight, and Cold Case, among other programs.
Since 2011, he has been playing Jake Rosati on Awkward. The series has been praised as the voice of this generation and received the People's Choice Award for favorite cable comedy of 2013.
