Bret Michael Harrison (born April 6, 1982) is an American actor and musician known predominantly for his work on comedy television series such as Grounded for Life, The Loop, Reaper, and Breaking In.

Early life

Harrison was born in Portland, Oregon. In his senior year, he attended Tualatin High School in Tualatin, Oregon. His first acting role came at the Hillsboro Artists' Regional Theatre in his home state where he had the role of George in Our Town.

Personal life

Harrison began dating Lauren Zelman in 2005. They married on March 25, 2012 and have a son.

Career

In the third season of MTV's Undressed and the MTV film Everybody's Doing It, one of his first television appearances was on MTV's Undressed. Harrison appeared in the film Orange County, 2002, as Lonny. Brad O'Keefe, a dorky next-door neighbor on Grounded for Life, was his first big role. In the coming of age drama film Lightning Bug, Harrison played Green Graves.

Charlie Richardson, a character created to be a replacement for departing cast member Topher Grace, appeared in four episodes of That '70s Show, but Harrison left work on a different project. He appeared in The O.C. Danny is Seth's rival. Sam Cavanaugh, a young survivor of sexual violence, appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as Sam Cavanaugh, a young victim of sexual assault. He appeared alongside Jack Black and Colin Hanks in Orange County in a film. In addition, Harrison appeared in the film Deal, which was released in the United States on April 26, 2008. He appeared in The Loop from 2006-2007 as a young professional struggling to strike a balance between his social life and the demands of working at a major US airline's corporate headquarters. Following the second season of 2007, it was cancelled. Sam Oliver, who appeared on The CW series Reaper as Sam Oliver, appeared in Reaper in 2007. After two seasons, Reaper was cancelled on May 19, 2009.

On ABC's reimagined V series, Bret Harrison played Dr. Sidney Miller. Harrison's character appears in Season 2 (2011) as an evolutionary biologist and potential participant of the counter-visitor movement. In a short film called Cost of Living starring Brandon Routh, Harrison starred Jerry. In the road trip comedy film Mardi Gras: Spring Break, he appeared as Scottie Smith. He was also signed by Fox in 2011 to fill a leading cast role in a mid-season replacement comedy called Breaking In.

Harrison starred Gordon Cooper on ABC's The Astronaut Wives Club in 2015 and played Barry Burwood in the film See You in Valhalla. In 2016, Harrison appeared in Netflix's sitcom series The Ranch as Kenny. In 2017, Harrison guest appeared on an episode of Mom, and in 2018, he guest starred as Sam Oliver in a episode of Kevin (probably) Saves the World.

Big Japan is a four-piece indie rock band from Los Angeles, with Nathanial Castro on vocals and guitar, Adam Brody on drums, Harrison on guitar, and Brad Babinski on bass. Given Brody and Harrison's erratic acting schedules, the band only performs, writes, and records sporadically. Steven's Team was their first band name, based on the film The Cable Guy.

Music for Dummies, Big Japan's first album, was digitally released by Nightshift Records on August 23, 2005. This CD was originally named Music for Dummies, but the limited number of CDs printed have since become collectors items.
