Bow Wow Wow announced his signing to Cash Money Records on August 16, joining an all-star roster that includes Nicki Minaj, Drake, Lil Wayne, and Birdman.

Bow Wow intended to debut his new then-titled album Underrated on Cash Money Records, but the project didn't get out until 2011. Bow Wow's blog said on his blog in mid-November 2011, that the record will not be out before 2012. Birdman, Boyz II Men, Chris Brown, DJ Khaled, Fabolous, Game, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, Nas, Nelly, Sean Kingston, Snoop Dogg, Styles P, and Talib Kweli were supposed to be included in the album. DJ Khaled & Sean Kingston appear in "For My Hood," the first promo single.

Bow Wow's first commercial single from the album, "Ain't Thinkin' 'Bout You," starring Chris Brown, was released on November 1, 2010. The music video on 106 & Park was a hit and wound the clock down in a single day. It reached the top of the charts two weeks later and remained first for three days. "I'm Da Man," a Chris Brown song on his album, was leaked on June 2, 2011 but it wasn't the first official single from the album. Bow Wow released "Sweat," starring Lil Wayne, on October 24, 2011, and although it was regarded as the first official single from the album, Bow Wow also dubbed it as a promotional single by Bow Wow.

Bow Wow's first single from the album, "Better" featuring T-Pain, was released on May 18, 2012. Bow Wow's personal cameraman Rico Da Crook produced the music video for the song, which made it to the top of the countdown. Bow Wow performed the second single from the album "We In Da Club" on June 26, 2012, which was produced by DJ Mustard. The song appeared nowhere on any billboard charts, but the film on 106 & Park was also a hit, bringing the countdown to a halt. Miguel's third single on the album was supposed to be titled "Right Now." Universal Republic Records was defunct, according to a later date; all of the artists on the roster, including Bow Wow, were moved to Republic Records, making the brand resurgent.

Bow Wow said on August 10, 2013, that the reason why Underrated had been delayed was because he was raising his daughter and waiting until he was older; he also stated that after he reached 28, he planned on and releasing the album. Bow Wow said on Instagram on June 24, 2014 that he went by his real name Shad Moss, claiming that he made a lot of history as Bow Wow and that it was time for "the next chapter and challenge." He said "Bow Wow" no longer fit with his new image as he became a father, host, and actor, and he had grown up from what he had seen early on in his life.

Bow Wow announced that he had amicably parted with Cash Money Records in May 2015, leaving him without a release date. "I want to control when my music comes out," he said. I'm sick of going to the studio to record albums and then listen to them. They get old,' because they get old.' Since y'all ask for new music, I don't want to hear it, because I've been listening to it for two to three months. I can't be held up by anyone. It's as simple as that. I have a daughter. "I have a family to care for."

Bow Wow signed to Puff Daddy's record label Bad Boy Records on September 27, 2015. "Making money will not be the problem," the author wrote. Figuring out where to keep it all is another story.

Bow Wow officially announced on August 7, 2016, that he would no longer be involved in rapping and would debut one more album, titled NYLTH, which was initially tentatively planned for release in 2017. As of November 2019, it has not come out.

Bow Wow and Soulja Boy produced Ignorant Shit, a joint retail mixtape that preceded his album debut.

Bow Wow appeared on the third season of The Masked Singer as "Fool." He came in third place.
