Career

McGrath appeared on Mitch Miller's NBC-TV television singalong series Sing Along with Mitch from 1960 to 1964. On the Walt Kelly album Songs of the Pogo, he appeared as a singer.

McGrath, a well-known recording artist in Japan, made a string of successful albums of Irish and other folk songs and ballads sung in Japanese in the mid-1960s. When he first appeared on the game shows To Tell the Truth in 1966 and I've Got a Secret in 1967, he was the basis of his "secret" story. McGrath appeared on Sesame Street from 1969 to 2016, portraying Bob Johnson.

The actor's death was announced by his family on his official Facebook page. 'Bob McGrath, our father, died today.' He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.' McGrath's last episode, Having a Ball, was the last time he appeared on Sesame Street. McGrath taught children by puppeteering and later wrote original sons for the film, including People in Your Neighborhood, Sing a Song, If You're Happy And You Know It, and the Sesame Street theme song.
