However, in recent months, Matt Schlapp's fame and image in the country's capital have been tarnished due to misconduct charges against him. Bob Beauprez, the American Conservative Union treasurer, who was one of CPAC's leaders, resigned this week due to payments made in Schlapp's defense in a case accusing him of sexual harassment.
