While working with Zürich, D.emaili advanced through the ranks and made the senior team at age 17.

Club career

D.emaili began his senior work with Zürich. He made 30 appearances for the club in his first season, scoring twice and creating three assists. D'emaili served as a central or defensive midfielder. He was instrumental in the club's success in the 2004-05 season. D'emaili wielded a large presence on the field as he possessed dependable passing skills as well as a quick and brisk approach to the game. During the 2005–06 season, D.emaili assumed the role of captain. When he was chosen captain, he was 19 years old and is one of Switzerland's youngest captains. In the 2005–06 and 2006–07 seasons, D'emaili led his team to triumph as Zürich defeated the Swiss Super League for the 2005–06 and 2006–07 seasons.

Demaili transferred to Bolton Wanderers in Premier League after winning the Swiss cup and league.

On February 9, 2007, Demaili signed a preliminary labour contract with Bolton, indicating that he will join Bolton after his deal came to an end in the summer of 2007.

"Blerim is a superb player who has played for Switzerland's top team for the past three years," Bolton boss Sam Allardyce said. He has a wealth of knowledge for someone so young. He is the skipper of FC Zürich and is expected to become a Swiss national in the years to come. Since being a player for FC Zurich at the age of 17, he hasn't missed a single game. I'm excited about the prospect of working with Blerim next season." Demaili, on the other hand, suffered with a rupturing cruciate knee ligament ligament and was out for six months. In the club's FA Cup loss to Sheffield United in what was his first appearance of the 2007–08 season, he made his debut as a substitute. Following his season-long loan move to Torino, he later stated that he would not change anything about his time at Bolton.

D'emaili joined Torino on a season-long loan agreement with the possibility of purchasing outright on September 1, 2008, making his Torino debut on September 24th and becoming a staple fixture on their team's team for the season. Torino bought him outright from Bolton in April 2009 for €2 million. Torino also agreed to the arrangement after being relegated to Serie B in June.

After playing only once at Coppa Italia, D'emaili completed a loan transfer to Parma on August 31, 2009, with the option to buy the player's rights at the end of season. Daniele Vantaggiato was sent on loan to Turin in exchange for a transfer. The first and second halves of D'emaili's registration rights were then purchased by Parma in the summers of 2010 and 2011 for a total fee of €7 million.

D'emaili was signed by Napoli for €9 million, with Fabiano Santacroce (loan) and Manuele Blasi (free) heading the other way to Parma on June 25, 2011. So far for Napoli, D'emaili has been a consistent performer. In eleven appearances in Serie A, D'emaili has been well-received by the fans, having scored twice and assisted once. As Napoli earned a point at Novara, his first was a right-footed shot from outside the box to the bottom left corner following a corner. After winning two yellows (47th and 55th minute) in a 3–2 victory over Chievo on October 18, D.Emaili received his first red card for the club.

Dantemaili returned to Italy for Bologna on August 17, who charged Galatasaray a €1.3 million transfer fee. He was scheduled in matchday 33 on April 22nd, and he was forced to leave the game on April 30th with the club having 13 more points than Crotone with four matches remaining. D.emaili will join Montreal Impact before the end of the Serie A season (and after Bologna secured the position of next season), defeating Atalanta 3–2 in their last match.

D'emaili will play for Montreal Impact president and Bologna chairman Joey Saputo on loan in the spring of 2017 as a Designated Player. The loan was announced on May 9, 2017. Hearts continue Scottish football's travelling woes as they lose 2-1 to FC Zurich in Europe

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 18, 2022
This was the fourth attempt by a Premiership club to benefit from abroad this season, but they came back empty, like Rangers, Dundee United, and Motherwell before them. It seemed that it might be promising for a brief period of time. Lawrence Shankland pushed the visitors forward from the penalty spot, but the Swiss champions responded with two quick-fire goals from Adrian Guerrero and Blerim Dzemaili before the break.
