Bitty Schram Career

Career

In the Penny Marshall film A League of Their Own, Evelyn Gardner, the right fielder for the Rockford Peaches, was the protagonist who prompted her to take her note. "There's no crying in baseball," her character was the subject of manager Jimmy Dugan's classic warning (Tom Hanks'): "There's no crying in baseball."

She appeared in the original Broadway revival of Neil Simon's Laughter on the 23rd Floor from 1993-95.

Schram landed a major role opposite Tony Shalhoub on the USA Network series Monk in 2002. She was first announced midway through the show's third season. According to the network, they had "decided to go in a new creative direction with some of its characters." "Many members of the series's supporting cast, including Schram, Ted Levine and Jason Gray-Stanford, attempted to renegotiate the terms of their contract[s]," the Hollywood Reporter reported, citing Schram's departure as confirmation of the industry's "hard line against raise-seeking actors who aren't absolutely necessary to the film. Levine and Gray-Stanford stayed on the program. Natalie Teeger, played by Traylor Howard, was displaced as Monk's assistant. "Mr. Monk and Sharona" is a sketch on one episode of the show's eighth and final season.
