Bharathidasan Life

Kanagasabai Subburathnam, born in 1891 to 21 April 1964, was a twentieth-century Tamil poet and writer whose literary works dealt mostly with socioeconomic problems.

Subramania Bharati, a Tamil poet, influenced him greatly and introduced himself as Bharathidasan.

His writings were a catalyst for the revival of the Dravidian movement in Tamil Nadu.

His poems took on a variety of mediums, film scripts, short stories, and essays in lieu of poetry.

The government of Puducherry has incorporated the song Invocation to Mother Tamil, written by Bharathidasan as the state song of Puduchery.
