Market update: The trainline is on the march ahead as the United Kingdom scraps its ticketing scheme

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 15, 2023
In May 2021, the Department of Transport unveiled plans for a Great British Railways website and app. However, such plans have been shelved, assuaging concerns that the ticketing app could suffer as a result of increased competition in the rail industry. The Government's call, according to analysts at Peel Hunt, was "inevitable" but also the correct one, adding that the highest priority should now be on changes such as moving to 100% environmentally friendly e-tickets. Shares increased 11.3 percent, or 32.8p, to 316.4p, the highest level since the year, with year-wide gains approaching nearly 20%.
