Ben Price (born 1 January 1972) is a British actor, director, and writer.
He has appeared in The ITV soap opera Nick Tilsley, Coronation Street, and three films as a writer/director, the first of which, "I'm Sorry To Tell You," was BAFTA short-listed.
Early life
The price soared in Newcastle upon Tyne, where he attended Gosforth East Middle School and Gosforth High School before beginning acting lessons at the Live Theatre. He then studied at the London Drama Centre and graduated from the Central School of Speech and Drama in 1996.
Career
Price started his career at the Manchester Royal Exchange and went on to appear at the Bush in London, the Gate in Dublin, and Sheffield Crucible among other things. In a 1996 episode of Casualty, before guest appearances in Soldier Soldier, Heartbeat, Peak Practice, and an Australian soap opera called Home and Away, when the show first filmed a storyline in England, he made his first appearance on television.
In the British television series Footballers' Wives, he played Conrad Gates, captain of Earl's Park's football team after appearing in Wire in the Blood. He went on to appear in Dancing at Lughnassa at the Gate theatre, Dublin, after leaving the show at the end of the fourth series.
He co-stars in the horror film Blood Trails, which received the audience award for best feature at the Dead by Dawn International Horror Film Festival in Edinburgh in 2006.
He returned to Casualty and starred as corporate director Nathan Spencer from 2005 to 2007, and was recently selected one of the top ten actors in Hollywood by Stage and Screen magazine. On the front page of Out magazine in July 2006, Price appeared.
In 2009, he appeared in The Tudors, the third season of showtimes hit show The Tudors, playing martyr John Lambert.
Nick Tilsley, who appeared on Coronation Street in 2009, was a fan. He started filming on October 19, 2009, and was seen on film for the first time on December 21, 2009.
Ben's first four films have appeared at over 60 International Film Festivals, 25 of which were BAFTA- or Academy-qualifying. At BAFTA, his first short, "I'm Sorry To Tell You," was shortlisted and Shorts International is distributed around the world. "Taubman" was his second film at the Athens Film Festival, and it was shown as part of a special section at the BAFTA qualifying Jewish Film Festival. His most recent film, "Hope Dies Last," is part of the British Film Council's short support service program. It is currently touring the international festival circuit, having been both BAFTA and Oscar-qualified. Bella Ramsey and Molly Wright produced "3 Minutes of Silence" for the BFI in 2020. It has earned international fame and has paved the way for the BFI's funding of a Feature Film.
It was revealed on January 27th that Nick Tilsley, a student at Coronation Street, would step down. Following a year away from the role, it was announced on April 23, 2018, Price would be returning to Coronation Street in summer 2018 and will be seen on film from autumn 2018.
