Barbara Bouchet (née Gutscher, born on August 15, 1943) is a German-American actress and entrepreneuse who lives and works in Italy. She has appeared in more than 80 films and television episodes as well as founded a production company that has produced fitness videos and books.

She also owns and operates a fitness studio.

Miss Moneypenny in Can't Torture a Duckling (1972), The Scarlet and The Black (1983), and as Mrs. Schermerhorn in Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York (2002).

Early life

Bärbel Gutscher was born in Reichenberg, Sudetenland, a part of Czechoslovakia that was ceded to Nazi Germany and is now a member of the Czech Republic. She had four siblings. Fritz, her father, was a photographer, and Ingrid, her mother, was an actress.

Her family was placed in a resettlement camp in Germany's American occupation zone following World War II. They were allowed to migrate to the United States under 1948's humanitarian legislation under Displaced People Act.

After arriving in the United States, the family lived in Five Points, California, on the west side of the Central Valley, and later settled in San Francisco, where Gutscher was raised. Gutscher was given the opportunity to join the show's dance company as early as the 1960s on San Francisco Bay area television station KPIX-TV.

These were teenage dancers who performed live to the hit songs of the day and became locally known in their own right by being on television six days a week. She appeared on television from 1959 to 1962, then moved to Hollywood to work in film, renaming her Germanic sounding name to French sounding Barbara Bouchet.

Personal life

Bouchet married Luigi Borghese, a designer, with whom she has two sons, Alessandro (b. 1974). Massimiliano (b. 1976) a TV cook and Massimiliano (b. A bartender in 1989, a bartender. Her husband made some of her later films. They separated in 2006 after citing differing aspirations.

Career

Bouchet began modelling for magazine covers and appeared in television commercials before becoming an actress. Her first acting role was in What a Way to Go! (1964), which culminated in a string of other roles in the 1960s. In John Goldfarb's Come Home (1964), In Harm's Way (1964), and Agent for H.A.R.M. (1966) a.k.a.

In two editions of Playboy magazine, she appeared semi-nude ("The Girls of Casino Royale") in May 1965 (stills from In Harm's Way) and February 1967 ("The Girls of Casino Royale").

In Casino Royale (1967), Bouchet appeared as Miss Moneypenny. She appeared in the Star Trek episode "By Any Other Name" (1968) and appeared in the film Sweet Charity (1969) as Ursula.

Tired of being stereotyped and unable to get role in Hollywood, Bouchet migrated to Italy in 1970 and began acting in Italian films, including Black Belly of the Tarantula, Amuck!, The Man with Icy Eyes, The French Sex Murders, The Red Queen Kills Seven Times. In The Scarlet and The Black (1983), a commercial film, she costarred Gregory Peck. In 1985, she formed a production company and began to produce a line of fitness books and videos. In addition, Bouchet opened a fitness center in Rome. In 2002, Bouchet appeared in Gangs of New York as Mrs. Schermerhorn, playing Mrs. Schermerhorn.
