Early life
Refaeli was born and raised in Hod HaSharon, Israel, to a non-Jewish family. Her first name, "as in wilderness), refers to "my God heals" and is a descendent of biblical angel Raphael. Her parents were both born in Israel, and her grandparents, who immigrated from Europe and Sephardic Jewish (Italian-Jewish) and Ashkenazi Jewish (Lithuanian-Jewish and Polish-Jewish) descent.
