Ashton Holmes (born February 17, 1978) is an American actor best known for his appearances in A History of Violence, Private Sidney Phillips in the HBO miniseries The Pacific, Thom on the CW action-thriller film Nikita, and as Tyler Barrol on ABC's drama series Revenge.
Personal life
Holmes was born in Albany, New York. Susan, his mother, is a social worker. He began taking acting lessons and appeared in community theater at a young age. He attended The Albany Academy. He attended the New York State Theater Institute's internship program during his senior year of high school.
Holmes was a member of Albany's best-selling band Method of Groove, and he was also a member of Method of Groove. Holmes befriended Nyack, New York band Coheed and Cambria, and began to shop around their demos to local independent labels during this time. According to the Coheed and Cambria documentary Neverender: The Children of The Fence Edition, in which Holmes appears, it was Holmes who earned them their first record deal with Equal Vision Records.
Career
Holmes made his television debut with a recurring role in the daytime soap opera One Life to Live. He appeared in David Cronenberg's film A History of Violence in 2005. He appeared on ABC's Boston Legal for a year as a recurring character. He appeared in Peaceful Warrior in 2006, What We Do Is Secret and Normal Adolescent Behavior, which was published in 2007. Holmes co-starred with Emily Blunt in the horror film Wind Chill in 2007. He appeared in the comedy-drama film Smart People in 2008.
He appeared on television in episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Cold Case, Ghost Whisperer, Numbers, House, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Crime Scene Investigation.
In 2010, Holmes appeared in Sid Phillips' HBO miniseries The Pacific. He appeared in Thom in The CW's Nikita from 2010 to 2011. Tyler Barrol appeared on ABC's drama series Revenge from 2011 to 2012. In the ABC drama pilot Reckless, on February 21, 2013, Holmes was cast as Wyatt Bickford.
