Early life and education

He was born in Patna on July 28th, 1936, to Sekhar Nath and Binapani Ganguly. He was educated at the Master Tutorial High School in Mumbai and obtained his B.Sc. A degree from the Jaihind College, Mumbai. He earned his M.S. degree. The University of Illinois Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, College of Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, 1959 and Ph.D. in 1961.

Career

Dr. Ganguly's most active career has been with Unilever PLC, where he spent more than 35 years. He served as the chairman of Hindustan Lever Ltd from 1980 to 1990 and a member of the Unilever Board from 1990 to 1997. Dr. Ganguly has served on board positions with many multinational companies, including Hindustan Lever, ICI India, British Airways, Wipro, Tata AIG Life Insurance Co, Hemogenomics, and Firstsource Solutions. He served as a member of British Airways Plc from 1996 to 2005.
