Arshad Sharif (born 22 February 1973) is a Pakistani journalist, writer, and a TV news anchorperson.

He specializes in investigative journalism and has covered a number of political events in the region for national and international news agencies, mainly for the United Kingdom.

He has been nominated for his journalistic contributions.

On March 23, 2019, Pakistan's state of Pakistan gave him the President's Pride of Achievement Award for journalism in honor of his investigative journalism. Arshad Sharif is currently hosting and is mainly the host of the PowerPlay on ARY News.

Sharif was AAJ News as News Director and spent time on AAJ News.

Before joining Aaj, he was leading the Dunya TV news staff as Director News and host of program Kyun.Pride of Performance Award – prior to joining Aaj.

Early life

Arshad Sharif was born in Karachi, Pakistan, to a Pakistan Navy Commander, Mohammed Sharif TI(M) TK. He began his journalism as a student in 1993. He received his Master of Science in Public Administration from Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad.

Personal life

Commander Muhammad Sharif died of a heart attack at the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology in May 2011. Major Ashraf Sharif, his younger brother, was killed when his car veered off the road in May 2011 in order to attend their father's funeral. Major Ashraf Sharif's death left Bannu Cantonment without a chauffeur or escort, regardless of the situation. His vehicle veered off the highway and into a tree, killing him a few kilometres away. At the H-11 Graveyard, Commander Muhammad Sharif and Major Ashraf Sharif were laid to rest with full military honors.

Sharif is the former head of AAJ News and Dunya TV as 'Director News.' In 2011, he began working as a Bureau Chief of Dawn News.

Pulse, his first media job, was spent in a weekly newspaper. In 1999, he served as a columnist, reporter, and managing editor. In 1999 and 2001, Arshad Sharif joined The News and Daily Dawn.
