José Ariel Rivera, also known as Ariel Rivera (born 1 September 1966), is a Filipino recording artist and comedian. Rivera was born in Manila, Philippines, but he and his family have since migrated to Canada.

Rivera, an undergraduate, was aspiring to be an architect in Canada before his singing ability was mistakenly discovered while on vacation in the Philippines. Musiko Records & BMG Records (Pilipinas) Inc. (now known as Sony Music & BMG Rights Management) and Rivera are among the many artists signed Rivera to their name in 1989. After two years, his self-titled debut album was released. "Sana Kahit Minsan" was the first single to win, and it was a No. 1. One pop-r&b crossover has been a hit. The album debuted as a platinum in the United States. Simple Lang, his 1991 debut, was quickly released. This album has also reached triple platinum.
Rivera's first album, Photograph, was released in 1994. Photographs were first published in 1995. In the Philippines, his album has earned Gold status. In the performance of Rama at Sita – The Musical by SK Entertainment at the University Theatre in 1999, he played the title character of Rama.
