Hazel Pascual Reyes (born May 9, 1979) is a Filipina actress, singer, endorser, and entrepreneur.

Ara Mina, a stage name that she derived from the first names of two of her younger sisters, is her stage name.

She grew up in Marikina City with her mother, Francis Marie Klenk, and her stepfather, Romeo Reyes.

Chuck Mathay, a former politician, is her biological father.

Personal life

She and her mother, Francis Marie Klenk, and her stepfather, Romeo Reyes, were the eldest of nine children in Marikina. She met and was acknowledged by her biological father, Chuck Mathay, a former Quezon City congressman, at 18 years old. Cristine Reyes is her half-sister through her mother, while San Juan councilors Cris and Macky Mathay are her half-brothers.

Mina has one child with Bulakan Mayor Patrick Meneses.

She became engaged to Dave Almarinez, CEO of the Philippine International Trade Corporation, on January 13, 2021.

Mina founded the Ara Mina Foundation in 2007 to help children with birth defects. This is the inspiration for this cause. Her younger sister, who was born with Down syndrome, was the inspiration for this cause.

Career

Mina entered the Philippine entertainment industry at 14 years of age, thanks to the late master showman German Moreno ("Kuya Germs"). Mina has appeared in over 40 television shows and 60 films, as well as three recording albums. In 2002, she received her first acting award for the film Mano Po. She received three more Best Actress awards from the Manila Film Festival, FAMAS, and Golden Screen Awards for the film Ang Huling Birhen Sa Lupa in 2003. In 2004, she received the Golden Screen Awards and Star Awards for Best Supporting Actress in a Philippine drama for her role as Luna in Minsan Pa.

Mina has performed aside from acting. Ay, Ay, Ay, Pag-Ibig's self-titled and first album from Star Music (formerly known as Star Records) which carried the hit song "Ay, Ay, Ay, Pag-Ibig") received a gold record award just a few months after its debut. Despite this, the record label decided to release "Heavenly," a big hit and featured the song "Oops Teka Lang," as well as the title song starring Robin Padilla and Claudine Barretto of Star Cinema. Rey Valera's hit "Kung Kailangan Mo Ako" was also used as the ABS-CBN miniseries Sa Sandaling Mo Ako's theme tune. She released her 3rd album in 2008 under Sony BMG. It consisted of acoustic covers of hit songs such as "What Do We Mean To Each Other" by Sergio Mendes, "Somebody" by Depeche Mode, and Mauy's "Very Special Love" from Mauy.

She exemplified versatility by appearing in television shows of many genres, from sitcoms to heavy drama. Super Klenk, her first television sitcom in which she played a superhero, displayed her comedy skills and agility. She was then cast in "Bubble Gang," her longest stint on television. Mulawin, Vultra's actress, was also remarkable in terms of her character. Prinsesa ng Banyera and Ligaw na Bulaklak, as a child in 2007, she moved to freelance acting and moved to ABS-CBN where she worked on ABS-CBN's projects. She returned to GMA Network and spent two years as a host of multiple teleseryes for more than two years. She served on TV5 Network from 2011 to 2016, but through Teen Generation and Yesterday's Bride, she was able to do shows with the Kapuso network. Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano appeared in My Ex and Whys, her most recent television appearance was for GMA-7's Pinulot Ka Lang sa Lupa, as well as Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano. After doing anthology work with the channel, she staged a teleserye comeback on ABS-CBN in Araw Gabi.
