António Campos (29 May 1922 – March 9, 1999) was one of Portugal's pioneers in visual anthropology. * He shot ethnographic films and attempted docufiction mainly using pure documentary methods. * He used the methods of direct cinema to depict ancient human societies (ethnofiction) of his country's ancient human populations (ethnofiction). At the same time as John Marshall (EU) and Michel Brault (Canada), he began filming at the start of the sixties. * He went through Jean Rouch's life in an original way, despite not knowing much about him.
