Antonio Barragán Career

Club career

Barragán, an 18-year-old boy who had yet to play for Sevilla FC's first team, was born in Pontedeume, Galicia.

He spent the 2005-2006 season with the club's reserves, making one appearance for the first team as a replacement for fellow Spaniard Fernando Morientes in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League against PFC CSKA Sofia. In doing so, he became the youngest foreigner to play for the Reds.

On August 4, 2006, Barragán signed a five-year contract with Deportivo de La Corua, a €1 million operation. His time with his new team began well, as he was in the starting eleven for the first eight La Liga matches and scored against Real Sociedad in a 2–0 home victory before he fractured his knee in April 2008, when he was out of action for the remainder of the season and not playing at all in 2008–09.

Deportivo resigned Barragán from his job without his permission in 2008. Despite the club's decision to reverse its previous decision and return him to the squad, he successfully sued for an indemnity of €400.000.

Barragán joined Real Valladolid in early June 2009 on a three-year deal. He appeared in 17 league games in 2009–10 (14 starts) as the season came to an end.

Barragán will leave Valencia CF in a €1.5 million contract, Valladolid announced on August 30th. All three right-backs – himself, Bruno and Miguel – appeared in roughly the same number of games as the Che finished third and then qualified to the Champions League in his first season.

Barragán scored his first competitive goal for Valencia on March 13, 2014, his team's first victory over PFC Ludogorets Razgrad in the campaign's UEFA Europa League. With Joo Pereira, another Portuguese, he kept battling for first-choice status.

Barragán scored his first league goal for the team on January 5, 2015, equiving in an eventual 2–1 home loss to Real Madrid that ended the visitors' record 22-match unbeaten run.

Barragán returned to England after ten years on July 15, 2016, agreeing to a three-year deal with Middlesbrough. In a 1–1 home draw against Stoke City on August 13, he made his Premier League debut on August 13th, playing the full 90 minutes.

Barragán, Spain, and its first division, after agreeing to a one-year loan agreement with Real Betis on July 6, 2017. About a year later, the change was made permanent.

Barragán began a one-year deal with Elche CF on October 4, 2020, marking the return of the top class in the country.

International career

Barragán was a member of the Spain under-19 team that emerged victorious at the 2006 UEFA European Championship in Poland. Just a few months after promising results with Deportivo and former Sevilla teammate Antonio Puerta, he was promoted to the under-21s.
