Keith Blair (born 31 March 1976), better known by the stage name Anthony B., is a Jamaican deejay and a founder of the Rastafari movement.
Early life
Blair grew up in rural Clark's Town, Jamaica's northwestern parish of Trelawny. His deeply religious family life (his father was a Seventh-day Adventist and his grandmother a Revivalist) imbued him with a deep spirituality. His favorite musicians during his youth, Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, were reggae legends who heavily influenced his own style. In Anthony B's vocal delivery and historic role, Peter Tosh's influence can clearly be heard.
Anthony B adopted Rastafari fandom as a youth, a decision that was not well accepted by his family. Anthony B, the tenacious and steadfast, refused to abandon his new faith and his dreadlocks and instead moved to the uncle and aunt in Portmore, Kingston. He is a member of the Bobo Ashanti faction of the resistance movement. The long robes and turbans distinguish "Bobo Dreads," as they are known, are recognisable by their long robes and turbans. After being barred in Georgia, United States due to unlawfully tinted glass in the car in which he was traveling, he was charged with marijuana with intent to export; he then had to cancel several shows in South America because he was not allowed to travel outside the United States.
