Early life and education
Tendler was born in Connecticut. She is Jewish. Tendler studied hairstyling at Vidal Sassoon and the Make-up Designory after graduating from high school and then studying photography at Parsons School of Design before fading out, according to an interview with Architectural Digest. She earned her bachelor's degree in writing and psychology from The New School. In 2018, she began studying for an MA degree in costume studies from NYU Steinhardt.
Personal life
At the Onteora Mountain House in Boiceville, New York, tendler married comedian John Mulaney on July 5, 2014. Dan Levy, a comedian, officiated the service. Mulaney's marriage was ended on May 10, 2021, according to the newspaper. Mulaney filed for divorce on July 23, 2021, which was approved on January 6, 2022. Career
Tendler began working as a hairstylist and makeup artist in New York City after dropping out of college for her freshman year. Tendler was a pioneer of the online beauty gurus. In December 2007, she launched a Tumblr blog dedicated to daily makeup looks that attracted more than 350,000 followers. Her fame gained her a writing job with MTV Style as well as the opportunity to attend NYFW 2011. Her tutorials have appeared in magazines such as Glamour, HelloGiggles, and DailyCandy. In 2016, she collaborated with Amy Poehler's Smart Girls to create The Other Side, a YouTube tutorial series combining beauty with the paranormal.
Tendler has owned Silk Parlor, which handcrafts Victorian style lampshades, since 2016.
