Personal life
Silk was born in Fredericton, Canada, the daughter of Peter Silk, an academic, and St. Thomas University's Director of Drama Ilkay Silk, an actor, producer, playwright, and educator. Her father is British and her mother is a "Turkish Cypriot-English expat." Some of Anna's earliest memories included playing rehearsals and watching her mother's work. Silk was sold in many shops as a child. In 1997, she graduated from St. Thomas University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. At least two productions with Theatre St. Thomas: Seven Menus and The Kitchen are among the early theater performances.
She moved to Toronto in November 1999 to continue her acting career, and later in the decade, she moved to Los Angeles, California. She first met Seth Cooperman at an actor's workshop in Los Angeles in 2007; they became engaged in 2009 and married in a civil ceremony in December of the same year. They renewed their vows in a Jewish service in Fredericton on April 10, 2011 after she converted to Judaism.
Silk revealed she was pregnant during a Showcase Lost Girl pre-show special on January 6, 2013. On June 20, 2013, she announced on Twitter that she was able to return to work on the series.
In May 2013, Silk gave birth to Samuel Jerome Cooperman, a boy. Levi Aaron Cooperman, her second son, was born on May 13, 2016.
