Anjelina Belakovskaia (born May 17, 1969) is an American chess player who holds the FIDE title of Woman Grandmaster. (WGM).

She has won titles in 1995, 1996, and 1999.

Chess career

She came from the United States to compete in the Chess World Open in Philadelphia in July 1991.

In 1993, she was awarded the FIDE Grandmaster title (WGM). Belakovskaia competed in the Chess Olympiads three times and served on the United States team in 1994, 1996, and 1998.

She captured the first of her three US Women's Chess Championship titles in 1995, tying for first with Sharon Burtman. She won the title outright last year. In 1997, she took second place in the US Women's Championship. For the third time, she was the champion in 1999. "Irresistible grasp of the middle game" won her her third tournament.

Belakovskaia was Honored by Howard Golden - president of Brooklyn, New York, for her extraordinary talent and success in 2000.

In Tucson, Arizona, Belakovskaia began a chess club for children in 2010. She is also a member of the FIDE Chess in Schools commission. During the month of April, she arranged an all girls' chess tournament in Tucson.
