Angus Young Life

Angus McKinnon Young (born 31 March 1955) is an Australian guitarist best known as the co-founder, lead guitarist, singer, and the only faithful member of the Australian hard rock band AC/DC.

He is known for his energetic appearances, schoolboy-uniform stage costumes, and his own interpretation of Chuck Berry's duckwalk.

Young and the other members of AC/DC were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. Young was ranked 24th in Rolling Stone magazine's 100 greatest guitarists of all time list.

Early life

William Young (1911-1985), his father, Margaret (1913–1988; first name also Young), and his younger seven siblings lived at 6 Skerryvore Road in Glasgow's Cranhill district. Cranhill was a tough, working-class suburb with high unemployment.

William began as a wheel boy in a rope works and then as a machine/saw operator in an asbestos/cement company before moving to Cranhill. William was a flight engine mechanic in 1940 and joined the Royal Air Force during World War II as a flight engine mechanic. William served as a yardman for a builder and then as a postman during the war.

Margaret was a housewife.

Young spent the first seven years of his life in Cranhill. Stephen Crawford (1933-1999), Margaret (1935–2019), John (born 1938), Stephen Crawford (1939–2005), William (1946–2017), and Malcolm (1953–2017)

Music was a part of family life. Stephen and Margaret Young's sister Margaret was passionate about music, John performed the piano, and John Martin played the piano, Alexander was a vivacious singer, bass guitarist, and saxophonist who left Europe in the early 1960s. George and Malcolm became founding members of the Easybeats and AC/DC respectively. Stephen Young, the father of Stevie Young, who took over Malcolm in AC/DC in later years.

Young himself played guitar from the age of five to six, after which he was self-taught. Young also learned how to survive on Cranhill's rough streets, and, on one occasion, a car was struck by a stranger.

William, Margaret, George, Malcolm, and Young travelled from Scotland to Sydney, Australia, with the worst winter on record in Scotland and TV ads encouraging families to immigrate to Australia.

Stephen and his family, sister Margaret Horsburgh, and brother William were all aboard. John, the younger brother of the Young's, had migrated to Australia alone.

: 6–7

Initially staying in Villawood Migrant Hostel (a site later developed as Villawood Immigration Detention Centre) in Nissen huts, brother George met and became friends with another immigrant, Harry Vanda, a friendship that progressed into their professional careers in music.

At 4 Burleigh Street in Burwood, the young's family relocated to a semi-detached house. Young attended Ashfield Boys High School after primary school, but he dropped out at age 15. Young continued to enjoy art classes when attending high school. After school, he played the guitar in his bedroom.

Young spent time at a butcher shop after high school, including night shifts. He began as an apprentice printer. Ribald, a soft porn magazine, moved into Young's print shop for a week. Young was something like this publication, but there were no employees on the staff, despite some allegations that it was not.

The young boy learned to play on a banjo and was re-strung with six strings. Young's first guitar was a cheap acoustic model bought secondhand by his mother. Young bought his first Gibson SG secondhand from a music store just down the street from his house about 1970: "I went out and bought a Gibson SG that I played until it got wood rot because so much sweat and water got into it." The entire neck warped. It was about a '67 that I bought it secondhand; it was about a '67.' It had a real slim neck, much like a Custom neck. It was a dark brown."

Personal life

Young is married to Ellen van Lochem, a Dutch woman. They own houses in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.

Young, a heavy smoker, is a teetotaler who has been around for as long as he has. He is a supporter of Rangers F.C.

Young received Kerrang on August 24, 2006! The Legend Award from magazine editor Paul Brannigan, who describes AC/DC as one of the most influential and influential rock bands in history, is a monthly publication. In a survey conducted by Australian Guitar Magazine, he was named "Best Australian Guitarist of All Time" on May 16, 2012.

Angus Young Career

Career

Both Young and Malcolm were in a band with George and his music partner Harry Vanda called Marcus Hook Roll Band. Tales of Old Grand Daddy, a project in Australia, has been released.

Angus Young was active in a Kantuckee group long before forming AC/DC. Bob McGlynn (vocals), Angus Young (guitar), Jon Stevens (bass), and Trevor James (drums) were among Kantuckee's line-up members. Mark Sneddon (vocals-guitar), Angus Young (guitar), Jon Stevens (bass) and Trevor James (drums) joined Tantrum later in the band's name:

Young was 18 when he and Malcolm formed AC/DC in 1973. Young was on lead guitar, Malcolm on rhythm guitar, Colin Burgess on drums, Larry Van Kriedt on bass guitar, and Dave Evans on vocals. The band had a recording deal with Albert Productions, but the Easybeats had also produced the band's music.

The band's first album, "Can I Sit Next To You," was later recorded with Bon Scott as their vocalist. They settled on AC/DC, which was suggested by their sister Margaret, who noticed the letters "AC/DC" on the back of her sewing machine.

Young experimented with a variety of stage costumes, including Spider-Man, Zorro, a gorilla, and a Superman parody named Super-Ang before settling on his traditional schoolboy version of the suggestion of his sister. Young was born in 1959, not 1955, according to the press and public, who were told that this was based on this image. His uncle Margaret created the original uniform, but when it fell apart from use and tear, he used his uniform from Ashfield Boys High School in Sydney.

On February 17, 1975, AC/DC's debut album, High Voltage, was released exclusively in Australia, as well as a single "Please Don't Go" / "Love Song." AC/DC's T.N.T., Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Let There Be Rocks, and Powerage grew to be a well-known hard rock band in Australia over the next three years. All of their albums before this point were produced by Young's brother George in cooperation with Harry Vanda. Highway to Hell, their 1979 studio album, became their best-selling at the time, bringing them to new heights of fame.

Scott died of alcohol poisoning just months after this. When it was asked whether the band could continue without him, concerns were raised. Young and his fellow musicians soon decided that they should complete the job they had started on their new album, so they recruited ex-Geordie singer Brian Johnson to replace Scott. Back in Black was released five months later as a remembrance of Scott. It was a smashing success, outselling any of their previous albums, and went on to sell 50 million copies in the United States alone, behind only Michael Jackson's Thriller. AC/DC's new album, For Those Around to Rock We Salute You, solidified their position as the most well-known hard rock act of the time.

With their next three albums, Flick of the Switch, Fly on the Wall, and Blow Up Your Video, AC/DC's fame dwindled. AC/DC seemed to have hit their high point in the 1980s early in the decade, but by the end of the decade, they were in decline. Malcolm Young did not appear on the majority of the band's 1988 Blow Up Your Video World Tour to address his alcoholism problem. He soon became sober and rejoined the band. Stevie Young, his uncle, was recalled during his absence.

The Razors Edge, the band's 1990 studio album, brought them right back to the limelight, with 5x multi-platinum in the United States alone and orders between 10 and 12 million copies worldwide. AC/DC's Ballbreaker and Stiff Upper Lip, two other studio albums, have boosted their fame and success over the next ten years. AC/DC's Black Ice, a long eight-year absence, was released in 2008 as a result of a lengthy eight-year absence. Black Ice debuted in 29 countries and was named multi-platinum in 14 of those countries, making it one of their most popular albums worldwide, and it was followed by a hugely successful world tour. AC/DC released an album of songs from their forthcoming Iron Man 2 album in 2010, including the United Kingdom and the United States, and number four in the United States. Malcolm Young reported in 2011 that AC/DC was working on a 16th studio album.

Malcolm was forced to leave the band due to sickness in April 2014, leaving Young the band's sole remaining founding member. In May, it was announced that Stevie Young, Malcolm and Young's nephew, would stand in for his uncle, thereby setting AC/DC's new record. Malcolm officially resigned in September, and Stevie was appointed AC/DC's first full-time rhythm guitarist. In the fall of 2014, AC/DC released Rock or Bust. AC/DC was forced to stop performing or face total hearing loss in March 2016, following Malcolm Young and drummer Phil Rudd's departure; a long time lead singer Brian Johnson was disadcast by doctors. Axl Roses singer Axl Roses has been hired by a young, steadfast, hardworking man to cover John McCain for the remainder of the Rock or Bust World Tour. The band's official Twitter page revealed the imminent release of a new album, Power Up, starring Angus Young, Stevie Young, Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams, and Phil Rudd on September 30, 2020.

AC/DC was inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame in 2003, and the following year they were ranked number 72 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 greatest artists of all time." VH1 ranked them number 23 on their list of the "100 greatest artists of all time" and number 4 on their list of the "100 greatest artists of hard rock," as well as number 13 on their list of the "100 greatest artists of all time."
