Angela Rayner Life

Angela Rayner (née Bowen), a British Labour Party politician who has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashton-under-Lyne since 2015.

She has been Shadow Secretary of State for Education since 1996 and has served in Jeremy Corbyn's Shadow Cabinet. Rayner left secondary school at the age of 16 when she was pregnant and without a certificate.

She later trained as a care worker and then became a Unison trade union representative, a period in which she joined the Labour Party.

She was initially referred to as a member of the Labour Party's soft left in the media, and has since been regarded as a potential successor to parliament by some.

Rayner has suggested the establishment of a National Education Service (NES), which is modeled after the National Health Service.

Personal life

Rayner married Mark Rayner, a Unison official, in 2010. She has three sons, the first born when she was 16 years old. Charlie, her second son, was born prematurely at 23 weeks, and Rayner claims that her son's care demonstrated the importance of the NHS to her. Rayner and her family are members of Ashton-under-Lyne, which is part of her constituency. In November 2017, she became a grandmother. In 2020, Rayner and her husband were divorced. It has been reported that she is in a relationship with Labour MP Sam Tarry as of July 2022, although this has not been confirmed.

Rayner said in a conversation in 2018, that her mother had been unable to read or write; she had previously acknowledged this in a tribute she paid to her mother in 2016.

The police investigation into Angela Rayner MUST not be in Manchester

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 16, 2024
When Angela Rayner last week said she'd do the 'right thing' and resign if a police investigation into her former living arrangements found that she had broken the law, I was instantly suspicious. If Labour's deputy leader is so confident about the outcome of the probe by Greater Manchester Police (GMP), then why not tell us what we need to know now. Where was she living between 2010 and 2015, and why won't she publish the tax advice she says she was given when she sold her house?

Angela Rayner fan Andy Burnham to have no role in police investigation into her housing affairs

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 15, 2024
Andy Burnham once hailed Angela Rayner as an 'amazing politician' - but now the Greater Manchester mayor has been forced to clarify he will have no involvement in the police investigation into the Labour Deputy Leader's housing affairs. Mr Burnham's role incorporates the Police and Crime Commissioner for the region, which includes oversight of policing priorities and budgets. The role is delegated to the deputy mayor, Kate Green, but Burnham - who is up for re-election for a third term in office on May 2 - has been urged 'not to take a public position' or appear with Ms Rayner until the investigation concludes.

Keir Starmer is 'deliberately avoiding' dealing with the Angela Rayner homes row, Tories claim

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 15, 2024
SirKeir Starmer has been accused of 'deliberately avoiding' dealing with the row over Angela Rayner 's two houses. Labour's leader has still not seen the legal and tax advice his deputy received about her previous living arrangements, which have now been dramatically called into question by her former aide. However his team has looked at the guidance and the matter is under investigation by police. Asked yesterday why he was reluctant to look at it, Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said: 'Angela welcomes the opportunity to set out all of the facts, be it with the police, the HMRC or the appropriate authorities. 'I certainly wouldn't expect to see their personal advice about the personal finances of any of my colleagues.' Told it was 'puzzling' that Sir Keir had not seen the guidance, Ms Cooper insisted on Sky News : 'I think that's a perfectly reasonable thing for him to do.'
