Andrew Bowen Life

Andrew Bowen (born March 31, 1972) is an American actor best known for his appearances on the sketch comedy series MADtv.

Life

Bowen was born in Boston and raised in Vermont. He told his parents that he wanted to be "like John Travolta" when he grew up after watching the film Grease at the age of six. His mother considered enrolling him in dance lessons but decided against it. He appeared as the lead in his first play, Once Upon a Rhyme, over the next year. He continued to study ballet and modern jazz for eight years and was active in local theater throughout high school.

Bowen obtained an agent in New York City and then migrated to Los Angeles during the summer following his high school graduation. What About Bob would have been Kathryn Erbe's first film role. (1991). Before the film's release, he was sent by director Frank Oz, informing him that his character had ended up on the cutting room floor. He worked in various part-time jobs, such as retail and small television, as well as attending screenwriting courses at the University of Southern California.

Andrew Bowen Career

Career

Bowen was recruited to appear in Fox Hunt, Capcom's live-action interactive video game. Jack Fremont's character is a comedic twist on a "James Bond" type of person. Fox Hunt was later developed as a potential television series. Bowen's success in the game was also noted by executives at Warner Bros., who also signed him to a career development contract.

Bowen wrote, directed, and funded a short film called Lone Defender while waiting for the Fox Hunt pilot to be shot. The film was supposed to be an audition for Peter Parker's role in a Spider-Man film directed by James Cameron. By the time Bowen finished Lone Defender, the Spider-Man film had run into legal issues, but the process of making it had inspired Bowen's desire to direct films. He quickly wrote a spec script for a film called Along the Way and began looking for a director.

Bowen eventually shot the pilot for Fox Hunt, but the show was not picked up. Rather, he joined Fox's MADtv cast later this year and was quickly recognized as one of the new talents to watch by TV Guide. Bowen quit the show after one season, but with the support of his father, he was able to begin principal photography for Along the Way (aka The Haven). In order to play the hulking character "Jocko" in the film, he spent more than 40 pounds. "Andrew Bowen (formerly of the underrated MADtv) is amazingly good as Jocko, resulting in a character with a strong sense of belonging, a goofy sense of humor, and a general air of confusion." He gives one of the best'unknown' performances I've seen in years.

Although Bowen couldn't finish his film, he kept acting, landing recurring roles on ER and Reno 911! As well as guest appearances on shows such as CSI: NY, Las Vegas, JAG, Charmed, &c. He appeared in films including Ivan Reitman's Evolution (2001) and appeared in many television pilots, including Breadwinners for producers Gale Anne Hurd and Steven Tao. In addition, Bowen has contributed to the video games Ice Age: The Meltdown, Rise of Nations, The Matrix: The Path of Neo, Mortal Kombat X, Mortal Kombat 11, and others.

He appeared in the critically acclaimed film series The Work and the Glory (Parts II and III), as Brigham Young, Big Bad Wolf for Universal Studios, and the vampire film Immortally Yours. He appeared in Star Stories (the American version of a British comedy film), Conjurer with John Schneider and Maxine Bahns, and director Rufus Sam Williams' independent film Butterfly Dreaming. He has also shot commercials for Bud Light, Circuit City, Chrysler, Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, and Diet Coke.
