Andreas Kisser Career

Career

Kisser formed Esfinge, a three-piece band, where he met with school friends and where he played guitar and sang. The band was essentially cover of heavy metal bands such as Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Venom, and Metallica. Pestilence renamed itself in 1988, and the band released Slaves of Pain, a two-year-old demo. The songs on the demo were later used by Sepultura in their album Schizophrenia and Beneath the Remains. However, the stench was short-lived and eventually broke up.

While on a holiday trip to Belo Horizonte in 1987, Kisser met the members of Sepultura and went to see the band perform live. On the day of the performance, he joined the band as an improvised roadie for vocalist/guitarist Max Cavalera. During the intermissions, he jammed with the members. Kisser auditioned for the role of lead guitarist after the departure of original lead guitarist Jairo Guedes. For the first time in Caruaru, Pernambuco, he appeared with the band the first time and released the album Schizophrenia. The band's evolution was influenced by his involvement in Sepultura.

Max Cavalera said of him:

Kisser co-wrote the lyrics on Schizophrenia and Beneath the Remains, while the entire band wrote the songs. Kisser began to write songs of his own for Arise and then. Kisser has also provided back vocals on occasion, both live and on the record. Max Cavalera was forced to leave early in order to attend the funeral of his stepson Dana Wells in 1996, when he fronted the band at the Castle Donington Monsters of Rock festival.

Hail!, a metal tribute band, is also a member of the Hail! Tim "Ripper" Owens, Paul Bostaph, David Ellefson, Mike Portnoy, Jimmy DeGrasso, Phil Demmel, and Roy Mayorga are among the band's rotating cast members.

Hail!

Ellefson and music manager Mark Abbattista formed the company in late 2008. DeGrasso, Ellefson, Kisser, and Owens' original lineup began in 2009 in Chile. The band then toured Europe and performed in a private concert in Lebanon.

In 2010, Hail!

Andreas Kisser, Tim "Ripper" Owens, Paul Bostaph, and James LoMenzo were on a second European tour and appeared at a number of US shows with the following line-up: Andreas Kisser, Tim "Ripper" Owens, Paul Bostaph, and James LoMenzo.

Kisser formed De La Tierra, a Latin American supergroup formed in December 2012 with Alex González of Maná, Andrés Giménez of A.N.I.M.A.L. Sr. Flavio of Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and Sr. Flavio. The band first premiered a teaser and a series of behind-the-scene footages of the recording before releasing their debut single "Maldita Historia" in 2013.

Kisser appeared on three Brazilian film soundtracks. He appeared on the score for No Coraço dos Deuses ("In the Heart of Gods"), a 1999 drama film, with Igor Cavalera and Mike Patton. The soundtrack was created by André Moraes at the Estudio ION in So Paulo in June 1998 and was produced by Estudio ION. On the score of Bellini and the Sphinx, the actress appeared alongside Tony Bellotto, Eduardo de Queirós, Charles Gavin. On the album for Bellini and the Devil, Kisser appeared on a second time.

Kisser's solo debut album, Hubris I & II, was released in August 2009. When not working with Sepultura Kisser, I wrote and recorded demo material, some of which had been gathering for 15 years prior to the album's release. He shared a few short videos of the recording process on YouTube in 2007. It took Kisser six years to finish the record, during which he did a significant portion of the production duties himself. In the months leading up to the album's debut, Kisser appeared at a few shows in Brazil to promote the album and took part in a music video shoot for the song "Em Busca Do Ouro." In the "Best Brazilian Rock Album" category, the album was eventually selected at the 2010 Latin Grammy Awards.

Kisser appeared on several musical projects. Kisser released a number of demo tracks with Jason Newsted and Tom Hunting between 1995 and 1996, according to varying monikers. The trio recorded three demo tracks under the name Sexoturica, which later became part of the compilation album IR8 vs. Sexoturica. They released two tracks and a cover for their second project, Quarteto da Pinga, which also included Robb Flynn. In 1996, Kisser resumed his collaboration with Newsted on another project named Godswallop, which featured Carl Coletti on drums and Sofia Ramos on vocals.

In addition, Kisser has appeared on other bands' albums, including additional (lead) guitar and/or vocal accompaniment. He has appeared on many of bands' albums, including Asesino, Astafix, Biohazard, Burning in Hell, Claustrofobia, Korzus, Krusader, Ratos de Porch, and The AK Corral. Kisser was a participant in the recording of the Roadrunner United album in 2005. On "The Enemy," "Baptized in the Redemption," and "No Mas Control," he performed guitar. He appeared at the 25th Anniversary Concert. In 2008, Kisser recorded lbum Branco, a Brazilian Beatles tribute album that was shot at the Bavini Studio in So Paulo. He played guitar on the tracks Piggies and Helter Skelter.

Kisser has been involved in various projects as a producer in addition to his work as a guitarist. In 1992, Kisser co-produced Hammerhead's album Shadow of a Time to Be. In 2004, he recorded three songs for the Brazilian rock band Sayowa, which appeared on the band's debut album Treme Terra. He was assisting with the recording of Necromancia's album Check Mate and also played additional guitar and backing vocal on the album's title track "Greed Up to Kill" earlier this year. Sayowa's second album was released in 2006. Stanley Soares and the band themselves co-produced the album.

Kisser failed to apply for the temporary replacement of James Hetfield's left hand and arm during a live performance in Montreal in 1992. Phil Rind of Sacred Reich, a well-known Jason Newsted, had recommended Kisser to Metallica.

In 2008, he appeared as a guest musician on the Scorpions Humanity World Tour in Mexico and Brazil, recording the "Amazônia - Live in the Jungle" DVD.

As Ian and his wife Pearl Aday were planning the birth of their first child in 2011, Kisser substituted Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian for several European tour dates (2–16 July), including the Big 4 Sonisphere Festival in Gothenburg, Sweden, as well as Knebworth, United Kingdom, and Amneville, France.

In August 2012, Kisser appeared in a few concerts with Brazilian Beatles cover band Clube Big Beatles in The Cavern Club in Liverpool, and was given his own brick in the Cavern Club's wall of fame. He was also the first Brazilian to have one, as well as the first modern metal guitarist to be honoured in this manner.
