Andreas Christensen Career

Club career

Christensen was born in Lillerd, Aller's Municipality. Sten Christensen, the son of former Brndby goalkeeper Sten Christensen, began his career with Skjold Birkerh and then joined Brändby. He spent eight years there, attracting the attention of Europe's top clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich. Christensen joined Chelsea on a free transfer near the end of André Villas-Boas' time as the club's boss on February 7th. "I've picked Chelsea because they play the kind of football I love," Christensen said on joining the London team.

Christensen was first accepted in Chelsea's senior squad for their last game of the 2012–13 season on May 19, 2013, but he did not appear in the match, which ended in a 2–1 home win over Everton in Rafael Bentez's last game as boss. He was in the pre-season tour of the United States before the 2013–14 season and signed a professional contract shortly thereafter.

Chelsea won 2–1 against Shrewsbury Town in the fourth round of the League Cup on Sunday, making him his professional debut on October 28, 2014, playing the full 90 minutes at right-back. Christensen did not play again until January 24, 2015, when he was in the same position as Chelsea's 4–2 home loss to League One team Bradford City in the FA Cup fourth round.

Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur in the final despite Christensen's absence from the campaign, defeating rival club Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup. When asked who was man of the match against Shrewsbury, manager José Mourinho said, "Man of the match" was Andreas Christensen, who played well against Shrewsbury. Because we are a team, there are more John Terry (the official Man of the match for the final). "I am proud of the guys."

Christensen played for Chelsea U19 in the final of the 2014–15 UEFA Youth League against Shakhtar Donetsk in Switzerland, and though he scored an own goal to knock out Izzy Brown's opener in the first half, Chelsea defeated Chelsea 32-0. In a 3–1 home win, he made his Premier League debut against Sunderland on May 24th, replacing John Obi Mikel with 12 minutes remaining. Despite the fact that Christensen made just one league appearance out of the season, Mourinho said he would earn a replica medal from his club for his work this season.

Christensen joined Borussia Mönchengladbach on a two-year loan contract with Chelsea on July 10, 2015. In the first round of the DFB-Pokal on August 10, he made his debut against FC St. Pauli, winning 4–1. Christensen made his Bundesliga debut in a 4–0 loss at Borussia Dortmund five days later. In a 5-1 victory over Werder Bremen at Borussia-Park on February 5, he scored his first professional goals.

Christensen was named the team's Player of the Season by an impressive debut season, ahead of Granit Xhaka, the team's captain. Mönchengladbach made several attempts to move his loan move to a permanent in the 2016 summer, but Chelsea denied Chelsea's £14.25 million bid.

Christensen scored the final goal of a 4–2 victory over Fiorentina in the second leg of the last 32 to win by 4–3 aggregate. In the next round against Schalke, who won on away goals after a 3–3 aggregate draw. He was on target again.

Christensen played for Chelsea in Germany after being kicked off from the bench following Chelsea's 3–2 home loss to Burnley on August 12th. In a 2–1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium eight days later, he got off to his first Premier League start in a 2–1 win over Tottenham Hotspur. Since being in the first team, Christensen signed a new four-and-a-half year with Chelsea running until 2022 on January 9, 2018. Christensen appeared for the Blues in 2017–18, three of whom were successful FA Cup campaigns. However, he was unable to participate in the final due to a back injury. He was named Young Player of the Year by the club prior to the season's conclusion.

Maurizio Sarri, the new owner, preferred to pair David Luiz and Antonio Rüdiger in central defense, but Christensen made 15 appearances by February 2019, only two of which were in the league. However, he did not want to leave the club because he was barred from leaving it.

After Chelsea defeated Manchester City 1–0 in the 2021 UEFA Champions League Final in Porto on May 29, 2021, Christensen replaced him in the 39th minute as he won his first-ever UEFA Champions League. Christensen scored his first goal for Chelsea in a 4–0 victory over Malmö FF in the Champions League group stage on October 2021.

Christensen joined Barcelona in a free transfer on a four-year deal with a buyout clause of €500 million. In a 0–0 draw with Rayo Vallecano in the league on August 13, he made his debut for the club.

International career

Christensen made his senior international debut for Denmark against Montenegro in 2–1 home friendly win at the Viborg Stadium on June 8th, as a 69th-minute substitute for Pierre-Emile Hjbjerg. Christensen got off to a 2–1 win over Iceland on March 24, 2016, playing the full 90 minutes of the friendly at the MCH Arena.

Christensen appeared in six games in Denmark's impressive 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign. In a 5–1 victory over the Republic of Ireland in the second leg of the play-off, he scored his first international goal to equalize in November 14. For the final tournament in Russia, boss GE Hareide summoned him. In the final group game against France, he joined Simon Kjr in central defense, but he played in defensive midfield. He stayed in midfield against Croatia in the last 16 to face the opponents' strength in that segment, but in the last 16 against Croatia, he managed to equalize, but Croatia went on to win on penalties.

Andreas Christensen was one of Denmark's most prominent players during the UEFA Euro 2020 campaign, where he appeared in all six games. Christensen scored a spectacular goal from long range against Russia on June 21, 2021, helping Denmark advance to the tournament's knockout stage. Denmark lost in the semi-final 2–1 after beating both Wales and the Czech Republic to get there.

Why Xavi's long Barcelona goodbye could be cut short if Real Madrid humble them after Champions League exit to PSG, which exposed cracks in a tense dressing room

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 18, 2024
PETE JENSON: The end is nigh for Xavi. It could even come on Sunday night if Barcelona lose the Clasico and slip 11 points behind Real Madrid. A defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu would leave Barça with a six-game run-in and only second place to play for.  They need to finish second for the €5million [£4.27m] they will earn from the Spanish Super Cup, but chasing runners-up positions is not what the club is about and May will be a long month mainly spent speculating over who the new manager will be.

Barcelona manager Xavi and THREE of his players are handed brutal rating by L'Equipe - and that's without unrated Ronald Araujo - after Kylian Mbappe 'made their stadium his garden'

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 17, 2024
L'Equipe hailed Kylian Mbappe for making Barcelona 'his garden' as Paris Saint-Germain completed a stunning comeback to reach the Champions League semi-finals. Mbappe was one of five PSG players earning an 8 out of 10 rating after scoring his side's third and fourth goal as the Ligue 1 champions set up a semi-final showdown against Borussia Dortmund.  'He was expected to be the saviour and he finally was,' L'Equipe wrote, noting Barcelona was now 'his garden' after the France star scored a hat-trick at the Camp Nou in the first leg of the Round of 16 three years ago.
