Andre Miller Career

High school career

During his time at Verbum Dei in Los Angeles, Miller played high school basketball, where the team had a great success under coach Mike Kearney.

College career

Miller played college basketball at the University of Utah. He joined the school as a starter at point guard early in his freshman year and remained a team leader throughout his career. The Runnin' Utes took charge of the team in 1997 after Keith Van Horn, Miller, and Michael Doleac's graduation, and they led them to the 1998 Final Four Championship game. Miller gained national recognition during his tournament run.

In the West Regional finals, Utah faced Arizona. The Wildcats were defending national champions and the top seed in the area, and were therefore favored over the Utes. Mike Bibby, Miles Simon, and Jason Terry were among the All-American guard line on display in Arizona, but Miller wasn't intimidated. He single-handedly defeated the Wildcats, scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists in the game. It was just the fourth triple-double in the NCAA tournament's recorded history. Utah defeated Utah 76-51 in a rout.

The Utes maintained their remarkable run all the way to the championship game, losing to Kentucky 78-69, with Miller leading the way. During his senior (1999), Miller was a national celebrity in his own right, winning First Team All-America awards from the Associated Press, the Sporting News, and USBWA. He was also named Player of the Year in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), in addition to First Team All-WAC and WAC All-Defensive Team honors.

Over his four-year athletic career at Utah, Miller averaged 12.1 points, 5.4 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game. He also finished his career as Utah's all-time king in steals (254), and second in all-time assists (721). He graduated from the university with a bachelor's degree in Sociology.

During a 114-107 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on February 28, 2002, Miller reached a career high of 37 points scored. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team twice, became the first Cleveland player to win total assists in a season (882), and was the only NBA player to average 10+ assists and points during the 2001–02 NBA season. In five games, the Los Angeles Clippers lost to the Los Angeles Clippers. He appeared in 23 games with the Nuggets during the 2006–07 season before being traded to Philadelphia.

Miller was involved in a trade that brought him and #26 draft pick Jordan Hamilton in exchange for Raymond Felton during the 2011 NBA draft. Miller won 115-93 over the defending champion Dallas Mavericks in his first game back with Denver. He had 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and a block. In a 108-104 overtime victory, Miller led the Nuggets to victory over his former team, the 76ers, on January 18, 2012.

Miller re-signed with the Nuggets on a three-year contract on July 11, 2012.
