High school career
Drummond and his mother and sister went to Middletown, Connecticut, where they began attending Woodrow Wilson Middle School before beginning high school at Capital Preparatory Magnet School in Hartford, Connecticut. He averaged 12.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 blocks per game during his freshman year. During his sophomore season at Capital Prep, he gained 20.2 points, 16.6 blocks, and 4.5 steals per game. He travelled to St. Thomas More after two years at Capital Preparatory Magnet School. Drummond, one of the most dominant centers of high school basketball at St. Thomas More in Oakdale, Connecticut, was one of the most popular centers for high school basketball. College career
Drummond said he would spend a postgraduate year at Wilbraham & Monson Academy in 2011–12. He revealed on Twitter that instead he wanted to attend the University of Connecticut two weeks later. Drummond was selected by the Detroit Pistons as the ninth overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft.
