Club career
Iturraspe, born in Abadio, Biscay, joined Athletic Bilbao in 1999 at the age of 10. He spent several seasons with the club and then moved to the farm team CD Basconia in the fourth division in 2007.
Iturraspe's first team defeated Zalla UC 6–1 on March 12, 2008. He also appeared in exhibition matches with Club Portugalete and Aviron Bayonnais FC near the end of the league season.
Iturraspe was officially accepted into the main squad on June 23, 2008, being issued with the squad number 26. He made his La Liga debut on September 14th in the same match as another youth graduate, Mikel Balenziaga, in the same match as another youth graduate, in the 2–0 home win over Real Valladolid.
In a Copa del Rey match against Reco de Huelva, Iturraspe made his second appearance for Athletic, being replaced at halftime by Pablo Orbaiz. He continued to appear almost exclusively for the reserves until the season's end.
Iturraspe played in nearly 60 official games between 2011 and 2012, owing to physical injuries to veteran Carlos Gurpegui. Both the UEFA Europa League and the domestic cup finals were held by Athletic. He was selected by the Liga de Fétbol Profesional reporters at the end of the 2013-2014 season, and he was voted into the La Liga Team of the Year by the 2013-2014 Brutbol Profesional's reporters.

Iturraspe began as a free agent on July 8th, 2019. In a 3–1 victory over Stjarnan (7–1 aggregate), he made his debut on August in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League as a 65th-minute replacement. He did not play for the Barcelona-based club until December 15, but he came off the bench in a 2–2 home draw against Real Betis due to a shoulder injury. Iturraspe decided not to accept offers from other clubs and withdraw from playing in September 2020, after his Espanyol deal came to an end, with the club relegated to the Segunda División.
International career
Iturraspe was called up by Spanish national team manager Vicente Del Bosque to his 30-man provisional squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, making his debut in a friendly against Bolivia in Seville, where he played the full 90 minutes (2–0). However, he was barred from the final list the next day.
