Ana Tijoux Life

Anamar Tajoux Merino ([ti?u]), also known by her stage name Ana Tijoux or Anita Tijoux, is a French-Chilean singer and guitarist.

During the late 1990s, she became well-known in Latin America as the MC of a hip-hop group Makiza.

She made a leap into Latin pop in 2006 after she joined Mexican songstress Julieta Venegas in the radio hit "Eres to m."

Tijoux has been lauded for "exploring delicate topics devoid of violence." Following her second solo album, 1977, she gained more traction. Tijoux is the daughter of Chilean parents who were in political exile during Augusto Pinochet's junty.

Personal life

Tijoux was born in Lille and moved with her parents to Paris when she was 6 years old. She and her parents, aged 14 and 15, were able to attend a private school for French immigrants in Vitacura. After finishing high school, she went back to college to study architecture and began working as a part-time waitress.

Tijoux was overwhelmed and decided to put a halt to her musical career and return to her anonymity in France, where she began working in a variety of fields, including waitress, school inspector, and pollster, following Makiza's 1998 debut and the sudden fame and acclaim she began to receive. A few years ago, she decided to return to Chile to begin her solo as a singer.

Tijoux married Jon Grandcamp Jr., a French fellow musician, in February 2019. Tijoux and her two children left Chile in June 2019 to permanently settle in Paris, France.
