Life/career

Ana Belén, who was born in 1951, is the oldest of three children. Her father, a cook in Hotel Palace, and her mother served as a doorwoman at an estate. Ana Belén began acting in Spain during her youth and then moved to film and cinematic performances in the mid-1960s.

She encountered Vctor Manuel while filming Morbo by Gonzalo Suárez, marrying him in 1972 in Gibraltar. She began her career as a guitarist, and has released several hit albums. Ana Belén and songwriter V.C. Manuel performed "La Puerta de Alcalá" in 1986. In summer 1986, the single remained at the top of Spain for seven weeks. Como una novia, her first album that did not include songs created or adapted by V.ctor Manuel, was released in 1991. Mrame, her own songs and duets album, was released in 1997, and it went on to become the best-selling album of her solo career. She and Joan Manuel Serrat, Miguel R. Ros, and Váctor Manuel Manuel set ticket sales records in Spain in the fall of 1996 with their "El gusto es nuestro" tour. Belen commemorated Federico Garca Lorca's centennial by releasing two albums under the name of Lorquiana, a collection of poems and popular songs by Lorca. Ana Belén y Miguel Ros cantan a Kurt Weill a Kurt Weill, and she appeared in Petra Delicado's Tele 5 series the following year.
