Diego Verdaguer, a man five years her senior, who she would marry later, was she 17 years old at 17. Verdaguer was already a well-known musician at the time, and she formed Mediterráneo, his musical group. The group thrived in Los Angeles, California, but after being discovered by a Univision network executive, she launched her own solo career with support from San Diego.

El Sonido Vol., Miguel's first album, is released. 1, was first published in 1981 and released a year later. Her album, which had a different sound and style than Mediterráneo, was a hit. A year later, a sequel to that was released. Asi No Te Amara Jamas, Él Me Mintió (1981), and Mi Buen Corazón (1982) are all hits of Los Angeles radio stations, KRCD-FM Recuerdo 103.9/98.3 FM.

Miguel decided to move away from the recording studio and focus on motherhood after their daughter Ana Victoria's birth.

El Pecado, her fourth album, will see her return to the music scene in 1987. El rostro del Amor, Anahi van Zandweghe's lyrics, was released in 1989. On his visit to Mexico, Pope John Paul II was given the title song to welcome him.

Rompecorazones, her sixth album, delves into ranchero music. He selected her songs, including the title song, which became huge hits under Federico Mendez's direction.

Miguel went to Italy in 1996, where she recorded Amame una vez más, as well as lyrics by Anahi in the title song and most of the others. The album was released in the United States and Latin America the same year as the previous year, receiving critical praise and major sales. The title track was nominated for a Lo Nuestro Award for Pop Song of the Year.

She made a comeback in 1998 in 1998, a record-breaking feat. The album 5 Dias was released the following year. It featured a remake of Diego's "Ascom Hoy."

Piedra de Afilar, her debut on (2005), was released. David Snow, a multi-instrumentalist, appeared on this album as a co-producer with her longtime husband/producer Diego Verdaguer. Amanda's album shows her that she is on a new level without sacrificing the polished executions and beautiful songs that made her popular. "Siempre Fuimos Dos," a long-awaited duet between Miguel and Diego, as well as Anahi's lyrics, which also wrote all of the album's lyrics, is included on the album.
