Personal life

De Cadenet was born in Hampstead, London. She is Anna and Alain de Cadenet's daughter. De Cadenet lived in England until 1992, before escaping to the United States.

De Cadenet was married to Duran Duran bassist John Taylor from 1991 to 1997. According to de Cadenet herself, she was just 19 and pregnant at the time of their marriage. Taylor and de Cadenet have one daughter, Atlanta Noo de Cadenet Taylor.

After meeting Nick Valensi of American rock band The Strokes in 2006, she married her guitarist Nick Valensi of The Strokes in 2006. Ella and Silvan, their twin girls, were born in 2007.

Career

De Cadenet, a late-night Channel 4 entertainment show in 1990–1995, began her career at age 18. She also co-hosted The Big Breakfast, a British television show.

She made her a British tabloid figure, but it was only then that she married Duran Duran bassist John Taylor in 1991 at age 19 that she became a 'wild child.' The following year, the British people migrated from the United Kingdom to Los Angeles. She began a short film career, appearing in Allison Anders' segment of the 1995 anthology film Four Rooms, Fall (1997) and Brokedown Palace (1999).

Her career then devolved into fashion and portrait photography, shooting for, among other things, Spin, Jane and Harper's Bazaar. In 2005, she published Rare Birds, a photo book. Drew Barrymore, Sofia Coppola, Demi Moore, Olivia Wilde, Keanu Reeves, Beck Hansen, and The Strokes' members were among her celebrity subjects.

She returned to television in the 2010s and worked on a number of eponymous interview assignments. It was revealed in 2011 that de Cadenet would be the host of a new television interview series called The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet, which is broadcast on the Lifetime Channel, with Demi Moore as a co-executive producer. On the program, de Cadenet has interviewed female guests, such as Hillary Clinton, Lady Gaga, Portia de Rossi, Rita Wilson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Zoe Saldana, and Jane Fonda. She created Undone, a weekly late-night television talk show starring de Cadenet during the recording of The Conversation, during the production of The Conversation. In 2014, the show lasted for six episodes. Amanda de Cadenet was a journalist who produced a pilot for a half-hour weekly news-magazine show. The program did not air. In 2019, she founded The Conversation, a ten-episode spin-off podcast, in partnership with Spotify.

De Cadenet founded Girlgaze, a worldwide online multi-sided platform that links women and non-binary creatives with various companies, corporations, and brands in 2016. "I'm interested in the stories [women and nonbinary] people have to tell, because of my own experience of being locked out of so many creative fields due to my gender," Fast Company named her one of 2020's "Most Creative People in Business" for this role.
