Alyson Renae Michalka (mee-SHAH-kah; born March 25, 1989) is an American actress, singer-songwriter, and singer.
She rose to fame in the Disney Channel series Keely Teslow, as well as roles in film and television roles, including Rhiannon Abernathy in the movie Easy A and characters in the CW series Hellcats and iZombie.
Michalka and her sister, actress Amanda Joy "AJ" Michalka, are co-founders of the musical duo Aly & AJ.
Early life
Michalka was born in Torrance, California. Amanda Joy "AJ," her younger sister, is also an actor and singer, grew up in Seattle, Washington, and Southern California. Mark is the owner of a contracting firm, while Carrie is a mother of the Christian rock band "JC Band." Her parents are divorced.
Michalka has been playing piano since she was five years old and began playing the guitar at the age of 13. She began acting at the age of five in church play revivals. She was raised as a Christian.

Michalka began dating independent film director Stephen Ringer, whom she encountered on the set of her film Sequoia in 2013. In July 2014, the couple became engaged in Big Sur, California. On June 6, 2015, they married in a small ceremony in Portofino, Italy.
Career
Michalka appeared on the Disney Channel's Phil of the Future in 2004. On June 18, 2004, the series premiered. After two seasons in August 2006, Disney Channel ended the show in August 2006. She has appeared in the Disney Channel original film Now You See It... and appeared in the television show Cow Belles opposite her sister. Several Disney Channel and MTV projects starring Michalka and her sister were featured. They appeared in the MTV film Super Sweet 16: The Movie based on the MTV series My Super Sweet 16 in 2007. She co-starred in the Walden Media film Bandslam in August 2009. Michalka was cast in Marti Perkins' main role in the cheerleading drama series Hellcats' in April 2010. Despite a high success, ratings fell, and the CW announced that the show was not renewed for a second season in May 2011. Michalka appeared on CSI: New York in 2011. Michalka appeared in both 2010 and 2011 roles in the films Easy A and The Roommate. Following their release of their first album from Hollywood Records, the pair changed their name to 78violet and were supposed to debut a fourth album in early 2010. Many years later, in the summer of 2013, they resurfaced with new music, with their first single, "Hothouse," on July 8, 2013. They announced in December 2015 that they had renamed "Aly & AJ" after returning to their original name. They announced plans to release new music for a forthcoming studio album in April.
