Alice Glass Career

Life and career

Alice Glass was born Margaret Osborn in Toronto, Ontario, on August 25, 1988. She was raised Catholic and attended parochial school until junior high. She moved from home to live in a squat community of punks under the name Vicki Vale (after the comic book character) and formed Fetus Fatale, an all-girl experimental punk band. She and Ethan Kathman began working together on the initiative that would become Crystal Castles in December 2003. Alice Glass based on a pin with the name Alice that she shoplifted and Hopey Glass, a character in Love and Rockets, she selected Alice Glass based on a photograph with the name Alice.

Crystal Castles' first official announcement in 2006 was their single "Alice Practice" (Purchase). The band's first record contract with Merok Records in London was released. Crystal Castles also appeared at Clinton's Tavern in Toronto this year. The film "Alice Practice" was eventually included on their eponymous debut album, which was released in 2008. Glass ranked No. 1 on NME's Cool List this year and reacted annexed to it by criticizing the possibility of the cool list itself. The pair released two more popular albums, II (2010) and III (2012), completing a trilogy on their debut album. Glass co-wrote every Crystal Castles song to which she contributed vocals. Glass resigned from Crystal Castles in October 2014 due to her own professional and personal reasons. She said that working within the band undermined her efforts toward "sincerity, honesty, and compassion for others." She had a number of public differences with her former bandmate, including accusing him of assault and sexual assault.

Glass' debut single as a solo artist, "Stillbirth," was released in July 2015. The initial launch of a new series of domestic and sexual assaults was largely an attempt to raise the risk of domestic and sexual violence. Glass worked with RAINN, a sexual harassment charity, to distribute all funds from the band's earnings to help abuse victims.

Glass's "Without Love," the lead single on her eponymous debut EP, was released in August 2017. Following the EP's introduction, Marilyn Manson went on tour with her.

Glass released a statement on her official website announcing her departure from Crystal Castles in October 2017, accusing co-founder Ethan Kath of sexual, physical, and mental abuse. The allegations were detailed, beginning when Glass was 15 and began recording with Kath and then increased to her eventual removal from Crystal Castles. Kath replied the same day in a tweet sent to Pitchfork by his counsel, where he described the allegations as "pure fiction" and said he was talking with his lawyers about his legal options. Kath defamation had been in litigation for a month, but she was suspended in February 2018. After Kath's lawyers tried to compel the dismissal of his defamation lawsuit against Glass, Glass was awarded almost US$21,000 in attorney fees in May.

Glass' "Forgiveness" became her second single from her EP in January 2018. "Cease and Desist," she said, was also released that month as a "call to arms for all survivors." Both singles were accompanied by music videos.

Glass began her SnowBlood Tour with American singer Zola Jesus, as well as electronic musician Pictureplane, on select dates. The tour is named after Lady Snowblood, the spurned star of the eponymous 1973 Japanese film. Glass unveiled a remix EP later this month, consisting of remixes of songs from her eponymous EP, which was released in 2017. Both Zola Jesus and Pictureplane remixes are included in the EP.

Glass released "Mine" in June 2018, as well as a music video directed by Lucas David and starring American drag queen Violet Chachki. Glass was featured on Adult Swim's singles collection in December with a new song titled "I Trusted You."

Glass revealed in 2020 that she received no royalties from her work in Crystal Castles. She ended her time in the band and asked fans to cease supporting the group.

Glass released the single "Suffer and Swallow," the first song she sang from her long-awaited solo debut album, which she said would be released later this year. Lucas David's stop-motion music video was accompanying the song. She appeared on Alice Longyu Gao's single "Legend" on Friday, 2021, a special edition.

Glass unveiled the title and revealed the track listing of her solo debut album Prey/IV on November 19, 2021, and announced a release date of 28 January 2022 by her own Eating Glass Records. The news was accompanied by Astra Zero and Lucas David's music video "Baby Teeth."

Glass premiered "Fair Game" on December 8th, 2021, accompanied by Bryan M. Ferguson's music video.

After the album's release was postponed to February, Glass released "Love Is Violence" on January 28th. Bryan M. Ferguson's gory music video was accompanying the single. Two teenagers are shown in a cartoon that resembles the late 2000s in a sensually pulling out each other's entrails.
