Alexander Ian Sharp (born 2 February 1989) is an English actor best known for originating Christopher Boone in the Broadway production The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

The Tony Award for Outstanding Actor in a Play, Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Play, and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Christopher Boone, an autistic teenager.

Early life and education

Sharp was born in Westminster, London, on February 2nd, 1989, and was raised in a caravan throughout Europe and the Southwest of the United States before heading to Dorset, England, age eight. He was educated by his mother, a teacher, and his father, who worked in real estate, until the family moved back to England. Nicole, Nicole, He has a sister who is also very popular in her own field. On his return to Dorset, he was unable to adjust quickly to a traditional school environment and left England at the age of 18.

Sharp came from North America in 2008 and spent time as a carpenter and handyman, as well as in call centers in Canada. He travelled to Latin America at times to partake in physical fitness.

Sharp decided he wanted to be an actor while working in a house in Montreal. He asked a friend what the best theatre schools were like, and the lady told him Yale and Juilliard. Sharp auditioned with Juilliard due to its central location in Manhattan, and he performed with a scene from Hamlet. He also performed a scene from a play that he had written, implying that it was the work of a little-known English playwright. He was accepted to Juilliard and spent time with the Drama Division's Group 43. He wrote and directed a play that was based on A Clockwork Orange during his time at Juilliard. In 2014, he graduated from Juilliard with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

He made his Broadway and acting debut in the play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time in the fall after graduating from Juilliard School in the summer of 2014. Christopher Boone, the autistic teen, was given the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play, Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Play, and the Outer Critics Circle Award for his work as the autistic teenager. He is the youngest winner of the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play as of August 2015. Sharp's last appearance in Curious Incident was on September 13, 2015.

He appeared in John Cameron Mitchell's How to Talk to Girls at Parties in 2017, alongside Nicole Kidman, Elle Fanning, and Ruth Wilson. Sharp appeared in To the Bone, directed by Marti Noxon, in 2017 and 2018. On July 14, 2017, To the Bone was released on Netflix. Some controversy surrounding the film's depiction of eating disorders emerged, to which Sharp replied, "I think controversy goes hand in hand with beginning discussions that surround taboo or under-discussed topics that must be addressed and need to be less in the shadows." I would hope that [To the Bone] brings an awareness and encourages people to discuss [eating disorders]""

In Aaron Sorkin's film The Trial of the Chicago 7, together with Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sharp co-starred as activist Rennie Davis. He was also supposed to appear in HBO's untitled Game of Thrones prequel alongside Naomi Watts.
