She was given a AUD $7500 grant, a Pyke writing mentorship, and a tour guide for musicians. Lahey received the grand prize ahead of 200 participants, and Pyke explained that "the song she submitted was immediately stuck in my head," she explained. Her turn of phrase was quirky and logical, as well as extremely relatable... I believe the majority of us have been in the situation depicted in the song "You Don't Believe You Like People Like Me" ("You Don't Look Like Me."

"You Don't Believe You Like People Like Me" received Pitchfork's Best New Track Award, and it was included in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2016, where it debuted at No. 124. 97. On the ARIA Top 100 Physical Albums and No. 95, with 95 on the ARIA Top 100 Physical Albums and No. On the ARIA Hitseekers Albums charts, 8 positions have been ranked.

"[she] gives scenes from her own period of self-discovery, which makes for a dramatic and incredibly fun debut full-length," Lahey and her bandmates zoom through spells of heartache, with realness and a sharp pop-punk style, topping the ARIA Albums Chart, No. 15.

I Love You Like a Brother appeared on several albums-of-the-year lists, including Bandcamp Daily (at No. 1). (40) Noisey, the Sydney Morning Herald, Under the Radar, BrooklynVegan, and redbull.com. www.dailymail.co.uk, April 2, 2023
AFL fans have taken to social media to smear a version of St Kilda's theme song performed by Australian musicians to celebrate the club's 150th anniversary. St Kilda's historic landmark in style and continued an unbeaten start to the season with a tumultuous 18-point win over Essendon, but pregame entertainment had everyone talking. Dan Sultan, Alex Lahey, Ella Hooper, and the Melbourne Gospel Choir performed an unusual acoustic interpretation of the famous club song.

This weekly collection does not discriminate by genre and can include anything; it's a snapshot of what's on our minds and what sounds good. With the new music, we'll keep it fresh, but we'd like to see a few oldies (but goodies) every once in a while. Get ready: The Bop Shop is now open for business.
